I just always wondered this so here goes:

If you are a White female: Would you ever join a predominately Black sorority? (Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, ect.) Why or Why not?

If you are a Black female: Would you ever join a predominately White sorority? (Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, ect.) Why or Why not?

This is not meant to stir up racial strife, but I've noticed that, even though all the sororities are open to other races, there are only a handful of other races that actually become members of these organizations. I've always questioned why there is such a big division between the two. (Black and White sororities)

Rux: There aren't a whole lot of Greek Letter organizations that are Nationally chartered that aren't Black or White predominate. Not being secular, that's just the way the Greek System works.

I'm white and I joined a NPC sorority. I don't think a white person has ever joined an NPHC sorority at my school. I wouldn't just because of that, but I have absolutely nothing against NPHC sororities. They are usually closer and more tight-knit than NPC sororities and I really admire that.

We have had some black girls in our sorority. One was president a few years ago. She was great, and one of our best presidents.

I think the main thing is that people are too scared to be different in such a historically shaky situation. People know that they can, it's just a matter of not wanting to rock the boat. I admire anyone that would though.

I haven't done my research nor am I sorority girl, but I've witnessed only a few differences between the two. I used to work at a predominately white college and during when school started the white sorority was out trying to recruit. They did it differently than what I've seen black sororities do at my college. For example, the white sorority walked around campus dressed in blue jeans & pink tees, carrying signs and shouting loudly. The black sororities...do some kind of step off...they recruit personally...or email...signs around campus...meetings.

Umm...no I would not join the white sorority girls. No culture.

I never joined any sorority in college, but it I had, I would have chosen one based on the people/interests/activities, and not the color of anyone's skin.

I used to live in an area where the majority of the people were black, and had no problems being in groups where I was the only white person.

I'm white, and I don't like the concept of sorority in general; having to join one, though, I'd definitely go for a predominantly black one, as I'd have the chance to learn a lot from a rich different culture.

I would never join a sorority, period. But to answer you question, I wouldn't join a black sorority because I'd worry they'd be racist against me or make fun of me. Since I'm white, I'd feel like I wouldn't fit in.

That is a good question, but for myself I would not want to join a group of predominately anything. I prefer different people, with different backrounds. I am half black/half white, wouldn't want to join a sorority with just all half black/half white people. Diveristy is the way to go.

Nope. But that's only because I would never join a sorority in the first place.

I would join the sorority in which my friends and interests were. If that happened to be the white one so be it. If it happened to be the black one so be it.

as a white female I would not join any of them to be honest, this is more a USA thing and as such to be honest I was far more focused on getting my degree and raising my kids to be doing anything like that................as like so many of those types of groups they can become very elitist and something I would much rather avoid at all costs, I talk / hang round / socialise with ANYONE that I want to not because they are one of my "sorority sisters"...........

regards......besides not so sure ANY of them would want me lol lol
