Is this a why or how to fix question?
Why? Too long, moving too fast, too moist, etc.
How to fix? Mow slower, mow in smaller sections, lift shield higher, mow when dry, don't wait for grass to get too long before mowing

Are you cutting the grass too low? Your discharge chute could have a clog in it to where the grass is not properly dispersing. Try taking a hose to the mower deck after it has cooled off, washing the grass out. Raise the deck of the mower and see it that changes things.

Sounds like you may have a clogged up tube that goes to your bagger or that you may have mowed your grass when it was too wet or too tall.
If your bagger gets full or the tube back to the bagger gets clogged it will leave large clumps on your lawn.

Clean the underneath of the mower deck. If that doesn't work raise the level of the deck. T4
