I'm going into my freshman year and playing football. I ran a 4.7 on the 40, im 5"6', 130 lbs, and want to go out for cornerback. The problem is, one of the coaches was my coach last year and I played runningback for him. He wants to me to play it again since not alot of people are going for it. If I play runningback I might have a short at starting, If I go for corner, I might since theres a bunch of people going for it. What should I do?

If RB is what you're good at, do that. If you want to play past the high school level, most receivers are over 6' tall, so you may have a tough time defending them. A lot of times, CB's are referred to as the WR's of the defense because they match up so well in height and speed. You're probably still growing, but mention it to your coach and see what he says. If anything he can put you there for a couple plays and see how you like it.

For starters, try working a little harder in English. Your spelling and grammar is horrible. Secondly, look at your relatives, if none of them are over 5' 10", quit playing football and go out for cross country, track, golf or wrestling. Height and weight don't matter in those sports.

However, if you really want to play football, I would suggest following your coaches opinion. At 5'6" tall, it's going to be difficult to defend a taller wide receiver. And if you work on your speed and power, a short running back is hard to find behind a big offensive line.

Follow your heart play what ever position you will be comfortable at you're still young, but make a decision by your junior year. Just have fun.

you'll probably get both jobs, because in high school most of the starters play both sides of the ball! some even special teams also! and your 40 is kinda slow! so work on your speed, so you wont get burned.

ask your coach and get his response.. he knows best.. he wouldnt put you at RB if he didnt think you were good at it.. he might say yes, who knows.. but if he says that he wants you at RB then you can do a lot of scoring.. go out there and have fun.. good luck!
