I like all kinds of card games but instead of explaining them all, I can list them and you can look up the rules for the games that sound good to you.
One game that I LOVE LOVE LOVE is Skipbo. It is fun, fast paced, and you can adjust the number of cards in the stockpile to control the length of the game. This is a special deck from the UNO people but it is reasonably priced, they also have a kid's deck. But you could play it with any deck of cards...it would require about 3 decks...you could designate the aces or kings for wildcards.
I also love spades, and related is hearts. Between the two, the play is similar but one game is about TAKING points and the other is about DUCKING points. They are bidding and trick taking games. Another more complicated game is 500. I confess I never learned it, I watched my parents and aunt and uncle play all my life but never played myself. What I think it is, is like spades, only trump changes based on who bids the highes in a certain suit.
One of my fav games is actually very strategic and has several components...cribbage. There are points in the hand, points in the play, and an element of the unknown with the crib that plays into counting all your cards. This game really needs a cribbage board but they can be inexpensive and replaces pen and pad for score.
I remember that my dad taught me a couple games but I can't remember how to play them...casino and tripoli (with the green plastic mat and poker chips).
For easy games for two people that require nothing but ordinary cards...try rummy, and double solitaire.
For kid games that are still fun, try speed, go fish, old maid, and spoons.
You cannot beat YAHTZEE. I know it isn't cards but it is based on building poker hands with dice. Anywhere you have a place for 5 dice to land, you can play. It is easy to learn, great for any number of people, fastpaced game with a perfect balance of luck and skill. It is incredibly cheap, esp if you create scorecards on a spreadsheet and copy them off your computer. Just need 5 dice...even the cup is optional if you roll from your hands, you can even share the pen.

All I know how to play is Poker if you consider that a card game, but I haven't played in a while so I might of forgot how to play it, I have played Go-Fish but I forgot how, so basically the only one I know is War. It's where two people split up a deck of cards so one person gets half the deck and the other gets the other half, and both players flip over the top card of the deck, and whoever has the higher number takes both players cards they just flipped. Whoever has the most cards at the end wins. Oh yeah I know how to play Uno and Po-ke-no.

Alphabetical Index of Card Games
There are separate pages for:
Commercial games (games requiring a special pack of cards produced by a single manufacturer)
Solitaire / Patience games (games for one player)
Invented games (newly created games and variations contributed by readers)
Individual games of these types are not necessarily listed in the index below.
Some games appear more than once under various names. Some of the links lead eventually to rules of games held on other sites.
Building this site is a long project. At present the site contains rules for only a minority of the card games that exist. Therefore it is quite likely that the game you want is not yet here. If you already know the game you might consider contributing a description of it to this site. If not, you could try looking it up in a book.

shithead, but its too hard to explain just play 21, deal everyone 2 cards and you take it in turns to twist or stick the closest to 21 wins over 21 is bust only up to 5 card hand, 21 with 5 cards is best
