On a tv show he said something like "30 years ago, 13 year old girls were putting posters of Gary Glitter on their walls... today, it is the other way round".

I find the remark by Chris Tarrant funny.
That's my final answer.
Certain.

All Chris Tarrant is doing is saying it like it is for years Gary Glitter was portrayed as this macho guy and how wrong everyone was. As we all know you are not a paedophile overnight but the worse thing with him and thousands of others is there is no remorse for the victim and they only think about their next violation. I am not judging you by the way you word the question but I remember seeing Gary Glitter putting on this act and he needs shooting.

Angie....I'm answering this question late....just got back in from work. So unless people have removed their answers to your question....or else had them deleted by the powers that be.....I can't see where anybody is pre-supposing your own opinion on this matter.
Like I said.....I haven't been here all day.
As far Chris Tarrant's remark itself......it's witty but possibly inaccurate. GG was probably putting posters of 13-yr-old girls on his walls even 30 years ago.

EDIT: Busy Bee - I went through this as a young child, and I still see the humour in the remark.
Both - Tarrant has a point. He was making an observation, I think, just added a humorous twist.
I find it bizarre that a few people here presume that you think a certain way about this, when you didn't give your own opinion at all!

Certainly not because it's the truth I used to love Gary Glitter when I was growing up, his music was brilliant in the seventies he was a big part of my teenage years Chris Tarrant is always being picked on.

This is a straight forward and,to the point question and it does not indicate your own opinion so,why put on stupid replies.
In answer to your question I think it was funny and very true because he does have a liking for young girls as his court case and prison sentence proved.

funny but hes also reffering to the fact that glitter in the 70s was engaged to a 14 year old girl, the sun newspaper thought it was great and well done gary, apparently they said the parents were chuffed their dayghter was engaged to gary, funny how no one saw the problem then.

Off the cuff remark not meant to be thought through I guess.
What do you expect off a guy who would keep another bolke's woman as his bit on the side for years then say 'oh it didn't mean anything love' to his wife?

It's funny in a wrong way. It's witty but at the same time, sickly wrong. Either way, it's just a light-hearted joke, not to be taken too serious.

I think it was an off the cuff remark intended to be amusing. It doesn't bother me though.
