I would give the security guard a nudge. Don't think they're up to much anyway. They pace around the store looking and feeling pretty bored so their guard is down by the last half of the day. I have actually seen people walking out of places with things stuffed just about everywhere and the guard didn't have a clue. Even though they're stood by the doors.

It would be decided by whether I had my stab vest on and full riot gear... All you need is something to go wrong and you could end up injured. No Compensation, and a nice letter from the store thanking you..
But I would inform a member of staff, as I was passing,
to keep an eye on somebody.
But if it was a loaf of bread or a tin of beans or the like...ignore it.

You can't steal in a supermarket. Theft can only take place when you leave without paying, by which time you are outside. Unless you are a store detective and have been following the potential thief you are unlikely to have seen it.

I would inform a member of staff. Theft costs companies millions of pounds each year, and this in turn puts prices up for us honest folks.

Neither, I'd go up to a member of staff and tell them. Thieves push up the prices for the rest of us.
