We're born with the capacity for many things. As Well as the inclination to do things, Or not do things. But kindness is a quality of the character, And requires learning.

I think it's both. Some people are naturally kind, and others learn it. Some people spend a great deal of their lives being mean, and have something happen to them that teaches them to be nice to people.

Course, that also goes the other way....people can be nice a great deal of their lives, then have something happen that teaches them to be mean.
