How did you feel when George HW Bush raised taxes and closed military bases?

My answer:

I was PO'd when he raised taxes, as he had said he wouldn't in his campaign for president, although, let us tell the whole truth shall we? When George Bush Sr. was the president, the Congress was completely ruled by Democrats, and it is they, who insisted on higher taxes. Mr. Bush Sr. vetoed the first bill, written by the Democrats, and voted by the Democrats in Congress to raise our taxes. There was a lot of pressure on Mr. Bush Sr. by Democrats, after the bill returned to the president for the second time, they having voted again that taxes should be raised.
Previously, before 1993, Democrats had been in control of the House and Senate for 40 years. Who will you blame for the extraordinary tax hikes during those 40 years? George Washington? Sorry, he was dead during that time period.
Mr. Bush also didn't close that many military bases. You can give the credit for a weak government to Bill Clinton, his wife, and his hoe, if you want to hear the truth. No President in history has closed as many military bases as did Clinton, or weakened our forces with lack of development, and equipment, as Bill Clinton.
Let's stick blame where it belongs, eh? Tell the truth, and shame the devil.

I will not allow you to deceive the American public with your question. It doesn't tell the truth, and will confuse the un-educated.

I didn't read the Liberal's question, but they always ask a question as a way of making a statement. No real answer is expected.
Democrats are Democrats and would raise taxes every session of Congress if it weren't for Republicans to hold them back. The result would be socialism within 10 years.
Having said that, George HW Bush carries a lot of blame for that tax increase. He was trying to be bi-partisan, just like his son. Neither one of them understand or seem to understand that Democrats will stab you in the back while shaking your hand. It is what they do. They should never be trusted.
41 did say, "Read my lips, no more taxes." He carries the blame for going back on that statement. He made a compromise with the Democrats and in return, they used the fact that he compromised with them to campaign against him. That is kind of like Democrats attacking Foley for being homosexual, while loving Barney Frank and Gerry Studds. Two faced does not begin to describe their nasty disposition.
41 should have kept vetoing their spending bills until they either gave him the one he wanted or over rode his veto. Simple as that. If he had done that, Bill Clinton would probably never have become President, at least he would have been 4 years down the road.
edit: Base closing has nothing to do with the President, any President. Base closing is done by the Base Realignment and Closing Commission (BRACC). This commission looks at the needs of the military and produces a plan for base closing or realignment. The entire package goes to the President, who can sign it or refuse to sign it. There is no politics in base closings any longer. Both sides seem to try to blame the other President for base closings, but ain't so. Congress managed to get rid of this hot potato back about 25 years ago.
The only way a President and Congress can be responsible for base closings is if they reduce the budget of the military to such a point that they have to close bases in order to make efficient use of what resources that are left.

it incredibly is a actual disgrace that human beings could be so divisive. everybody with any eyes and would hear can see the divisiveness that this administration has brought about. i replaced into incredibly hoping we've been out of the racism enterprise. besides the fact that it has gotten worse. What if the KKK in basic terms had on gowns status in a Black community in front of a polling place. they'd get the finished volume of the regulation on them. guy, that's loopy for those Black Panthers to declare they could kill crackers and their toddlers. that's hate speech yet no longer something happens. How unhappy they stay with all this bottled up hate. Or are they being inspired like what it says interior the regulations for Radicals. triumph over them via destroying their team spirit.

Could that be what caused the economy to boom during the 1990s? You certainly don't think it could be due to anything Clnton did do you? Actually the request to close bases came from Republicans who claimed we didn't need them due to our superior weaponry and highly trained military. It was a way of saving money.

Do you think maybe old GHWB closing bases and Clinton closing bases might have saved money? How is our military weaker? They, according to righties and the Administration, the shock and awe forces of the world. The current military is able to deploy anywhere, at any time, and in a slam dunk change world governments. We have unparalled power in our military we are told. So how you can justify leaving those bases open and say that cutting taxes would help doesn't make sense. Money doesn't grow on trees.

First of all, what is the point of this now? Do you think you can lower taxes, and reopen Military Bases just because you don't agree?

Get on with more current events and leave the past in the past!

manipulation is the name of their game, and that is how most of the liberals seem view the politics which is scary, because it's hardly a game.

when liberals like the two comments above me, talk or write they are just hurting other Dems, not anyone else, because they are losing credibility and integrity.

the first guy was at least constructive on his opinion.

I think both of you are wrong...neither side it totally to blame...they both had a part in the raising of taxes..

You can justify however you want... I know conservatives don't want to put any blame on fellow cons and the reverse is true too... but BOTH sides ar at fault for this (or they should be lauded... depends on your perspective). No one's perfect and no one's the bogeyman.
