I am divorced, with children, but sometimes by myself. I go to restaurants and movies by myself quite often. I don't feel awkward dining alone. I just hold my head high, look around, smile at people, basically just act like I would if I were with someone.
I like museums, but haven't been by myself, but I don't think I would go to a festival alone. There are some things that are just better done with someone else.
You just need to be comfortable in your own skin. Can't anybody else make you feel that way!

I'm married and I sometimes go out alone to places because I like being on my own for a while. I used to do it very often before I was married because it's a good way to meet different types of people, who you wouldn't ordinarily meet. When you go out with friends, you only talk to your friends, or their friends, you tend not to meet new people and I think it can make you quite limited as a person.

I guess I wouldn't go alone to a very expensive restaurant or to any restaurant in the evening - I would feel a bit strange and I would rather go with my friends. But I often eat alone in cafes or pubs during the day - lots of women do.

Not too much...I'll get takeout or delivery rather than sit alone in a restaurant (I can do that at home and be comfortable).

I'd go to a movie alone if I couldn't find a friend who wanted to see what I wanted to see, but that occasion hasn't come up yet...same with festivals although typically I can find someone who wants to go to them.

I've got a good circle of friends so often there'll be someone interested in going/doing what I want to do...there have been times though when I've skipped doing something rather than go alone.

I've done it a few times. I moved to a new city where I didn't know anyone, but I still want to get out every once in a while. I'd prefer to have someone there to talk to me, but I sometimes it is kind of nice to be able to do what you want.
Now I have more friends and I don't go out alone too often, but I would if there was something I really wanted to do/eat and no one else wanted to go.

Although I am currently in a relationship, I spent the good part of the last three years single.

Yes, I did go out by myself, especially to restaurants. I would usually bring something along to read in case I felt self conscious but that really wasn't an issue for me.

I go to restaurants and movies by myself.
I don't feel awkward about anything.
I have enough self confidence to go any where I chose without needing to have someone with me.

In America, we can do what we like. We don't have to be married or have children and yes, we can even go out by ourselves!
