He makes documentaries like "Sicko" to pull at our heartstrings, because the health care system is something that everyone can relate to. Everyone would love to have free healthcare, etc. Moore goes on all of these shows, CNN, Fox News, etc, and bulldozes down the hosts like Wolf Blitzer, Dr. Gupta, etc. But you know what? When it all comes down to it, at the end of the day, it is really just another press juncket for him to promote his movie. And the tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions of dollars the movie will make worldwide, when you factor into the dvd sales, the multi-millionaire Michael Moore will just get richer. I'm sure his heart is in the right place, and I'm sure he would really like to help out the homeless, the downtroden, the unemployed, the single moms, the sick, the laid off, the poor, but at the end of the day, he will go back to his mansion wherever that is, probably NYC penthouse he bought a few years back, or in LA somewhere, and just count his $.

If he really wanted to do something for the medically uninsured or underinsured Americans, he would donate a portion of the proceeds of the film Sicko to American households. But will he??? The answer is a resounding NO. Michael Moore is the kinda guy who eats a $100 steak at Peter Luger's steakhouse in NYC and looks out the window at a homeless guy and thinks, "Oh, poor guy" then goes back to eating his meal. If he really wants to put his money where his mouth is, he should start donating and start donating fast to the millions of Americans with medical insurance. If he doesn't do that, then he is just another greedy Hollywood filmmaker out to make a buck.

I meant, to the millions of Americans "without" medical insurance, not "with"

Michael Moore brings up topics that need to be discussed, but he has a habit of not telling the full story, and of adjusting facts to make his point. For example, in Roger and Me, the whole thing was how he couldn't get in to see him. BUT...he actually did, right from the start. However, that would have messed up his movie, so he pretended it didn't happen. Fahrenheit 9-11, and Sicko, and others, are tailered to make you believe a certain way, and he does whatever it takes to make you see that, even at the cost of presenting the whole truth. I'd have much more respect for him if he presented the entire story so the audience could make up their own minds. There was a film recently about two huge fans of Michael Moore's and they wanted to make a documentary of him, but when they got the inside info, they realized how much a a fraud he is, so they made the documentary anyway, showing this.

I wouldn't go that far, but I like him and he's done some big things. The trouble with Michael Moore is that he almost always only sees things from one perspective and doesn't stop to consider the other side of the story, he just blunders in and points out all the bad things without mentioning the good or the mitigating factors. His first big documentary, Roger and Me, was awesome but there are experts in the field of business and commerce who would point out that while hundreds of people were indeed made unemployed and replaced by robots, it made no economic sense to continue to employ 20 human beings to do what a machine could do for less than half the price. You don't employ people to stand around and do nothing. That's progress. Roger Moore can be something of a Luddite sometimes.

Well, I hate to rain on your parade but Michael Moore donates heftily from the proceeds of ALL of his films
60% of the net profits from Farenheit 9/11 went to charity.
Sicko will also have most of its net profits donated to charity.
In addition, Sanjay Gupta made some false claims in his so called " fact checking" and those have been brought to light as well

Actually, he is donating some of the movie's proceeds to uninsured 9/11 rescue workers. So no - I don't think he's only in it to make money for himself.

I see where you are coming from. To a point I think there is some greed in the mix, but when it all comes down to it, he is letting Americans know the truth about our system... if you get enough people aware and ready to take action, then something valuable will hopefully evolve from it.
