There was this guy that got tasered by the police in powell... Do you think the police went too far? i personaly do, i think they could of used some other means, instead of saying the same thing over, and over, and doing the same thing over and over....they have other tactics.

heres the video....

The thing is, he was already arrested....they could of done other things if he was realy hurt before they tasored him, because they dont know what was wrong with him, in my opinion, they failed to communicate with him....they dont know if he had been in some kind of car accident...

He fought the law and the law won.

Personally, I would have used a nightstick and beat the whiny liberal wuss out of him.

Well ......

Unfortunately, the video doesn't show anything, particularly what predicated the altercation.

But what I can clearly hear is this guy is being belligerent to the officers and not following the commands. If he just complies, then he doesn't get tased; simple.

In a post Virgina Tech world, law enforcement is very wary of letting things get too far. And not knowing the guy, the circumstances and the current state of alert on campus the police acted in a way that preserved that safety of the other students.

I see this happen all the time; a suspect doesn't comply with an officers requests and give a little attitude and the they complain about the results.

Sorry, I think the officers were in the right and IF there is an inquest, I am certain they will be vindicated.

It seems to that this young man could have been restrained with the number of officers present and dragged off like they ended up doing at the end of the video.

Teasers have there place -but in this case it appears that it was over used. I would think that the adrenalin was really pumping on both sides of the dispute , but It looks as if the officers needed to be the professionals here and use reasonable restraint to remove the out of control man.
This could very easily have resulted in a riot and many more people being hurt and in trouble .

A man was killed here in Chicago a few days ago by a taser. The police said they could not restrain him. The man was handicapped, 40 something years old, and they claim it took five cops and a taser to restrain him. The autopsy is being done, but the taser is said to be the cause.

Yes, to your question. I think that police are going to far. They have substituted these tasers for old fashioned negotiation and their lack of physical competency.

I couldn't see it, but when someone refuses to follow a cop's orders, what else can they do? They repeatedly asked him to stand up. They gave him a warning he would get tasered again but he still refused. Are they supposed to give up and walk away.
Another point, if anyone refuses to comply an officer, the cops deal with crazy people. They know and see what can happen. You could say they get paranoid but in their line of business, they have seen it too often.

If the person is resisting arrest and tries to assult an officer they will tasser him/her. I watched a guy who was on drugs and was tassered twice, after the first time the cuffed him and he still jumped up and run and the did it again.

If your being arrested keep you trap shut, sit still & do what your told. That keeps the violence against you by officers in the minimum. Officers are always looking for a reason to hurt the person their arresting.

Hard to tell from the video, the initial confrontation wasn't visible. Sounds like he was refusing to comply with repeated requests. At least they only tasered him, they could have just beat him senseless. Here's a hint, if you refuse to cooperate with law enforcement, you will get hurt.

he should have just stood up and did what the police told him. the video isn't that clear so it's hard to see what really happened.

college kids always think they have so many rights and are always so cocky about it, as you can hear from the video.
