Are these generals who constantly refer to the insurgency being trained and supplied with weapons from Iran so Pro-Bush that they are ignoring the facts that Saudi Arabia is more capable of financing the insurgents? How bad do these people want to invade Iran just as we did Iraq?

celtic_saltire: your response is really so far right i almost can't see you. for the record, I have a son who is serving in Iraq. I am not soldier material but if i were I would do my part. I do support the troops, but it scares me to think that this administration wants to invade another country while our boys are stretched to the limits in two countries as it is. We don't even have the stability necessary to leave Afghanistan....Iraq is not getting any closer to stabilizing...and this Administration is pointing the finger at Iran.
Where is it that Saudi Arabia is our ally? Is it not fact that the majority of those who attacked us on 9/11 were Saudi?? And now we are bargaining and selling our military equipment to Saudi? Sorry - I don't trust Saudi anymore than I trust Iran. The Saudi's are friends to your face while they stab you in the back..mark my words.

I hear it more from the administartion than the generals... yes, they have their suspicions that Iran is funding and supplying some of the insurgents but I have heard many say that they don't have any hard-core evidence and they are only speculating.
The administration presents nearly all of their arguments on this subject as pure fact... until they are aggressively questioned for a smoking gun which they admit they have none. I don't doubt that Iran is funding some of the Insurgents... it is actually the "smart" thing to do for their own national security... just like we are openly fund Israel and secretly provide them with questionable legal munitions. I am also pretty sure that American special operatives are constantly penetrating Iran's border... that is in America's national security interests too. We should stop looking at global military politics as "good" vs. "evil" or "good guys vs. bad guys"... both sides are neither and no one plays by the rules but they cry foul by the other by incorporating the same strategies.
Welcome to world politics.

Saudi Arabia has long been our ally, and they have close ties to Bush. Funding and training the insurgency has nothing to do with the capability to do so, it has to do with actually funding and training them. The evidence is that insurgents seem to be using Iranian tactics. That might be, but that still doesn't connect them to Iran either. It could be Iranians working outside the government providing this capability.
If anyone is pushing for conflict in Iran, I think it's the media. The Bush administration is actually talking the situation out with them, and like the answer above me points out the generals always qualify their opinions that this is just speculation, no one claims to have evidence of wrongdoing by Iran's government. The media reports it so much that people believe it.

So Saudi Arabia is the main source for Terror funding worldwide and the main source of foreign insurgents in Iraq?
That does not make them the bad guys! It is OK to sacrifice a few troops to our Saudi allies.
President Bush knows better than the American people anyway.

Top brass wanted to drop nuclear weapons on the USSR in the 50's and 60's, you can never, ever, dismiss how myopic and destructive the military personnel really can be. Thank goodness we have civilian leaders.

Loftitright your an idiot. Our civilian leaders are the ones that got us into this war. The military just points out ideas, problems they are have, and our "Civilian Leaders" do have the final say on whether or not to act on it.
