When ever there is a war there are new bigger and better offices and jobs created by the government that never seem to go away after the war is over? Republicans say they want smaller government, but they have a way of creating larger government while they are in office. They say they want to pay less taxes, yet they create all of these new government jobs that are to be funded forever. Do you believe a word that comes out of republicans mouths?

Yes I have noticed and no I don't believe a word that comes out of their mouths. And has anybody noticed that to pay for these new jobs we either have to increase taxes or cut social programs. Repubs would rather cut social programs that help the unfortunate so they don't have to raise the taxes of their wealthy elite friends that contribute millions to their campaigns. The sad thing is democrats are just as bad.

Republicans do want smaller government, that is part of the party platform, but as everyone should be aware, not every person belonging to a party will agree 100% with the party platform. You have no proof that these new government jobs, especially DHS will be funded forever. Let's say hypothetically the war on terror ends, much like the cold war ended. Would they keep DHS around? Probably not... At the same time, they'll disband the Patriot Act and end the wiretapping program when those things have no more use.

I have gotten to the point that I don't believe any of them any more from either party. I think things are way out of control. The American people have little to nothing to say about what is happening in our government.

Pfo: What world are you living in? Those are some of the things they say will happen in order to get such things passed but there is always something that prevents such things from disappearing. Generally "they" add to them. We are quickly becoming a police state.......and the terrorists have therefore won.

What? I hate to break it to you but this goes on even when there aren't wars. Sadly, the part-time government envisioned by our founding fathers has long since been a thing of the past.

How do you know when a politician is telling the Truth - when his mouth is shut. Old, but very true.

This holds true for the entire world by the look of things.

They only want a smaller federal government when they are not in charge of the federal government. Also, they only want less government spending when they are not the ones doing the spending. Also, true conservatism is not part of modern republican ideology.
