Im just wondering, when I think of the top three record in baseball that will never be broken, these three come to mind
1.Ricky Henderson-Career stolen bases
2.Joe Dimaggio-Hit Streak
3.Pete Rose-Total Hits

The only one of those three that I can see being broken is the Hit Streak, any comments?

The only reason I didnt put Cy Young was because that Record was in a different time frame where they had like a 2-3 man Rotation. And I think that Cal's Consecutive Games record is less of a skill thing and more of a luck and endurance record. But regardless, both of those records will probably never be touched.

Most likely would be the hit streak and least likely would be total hits by Pete Rose at 4,256. Someone would have to average over 200 hits per year for 21 years and I don't see that happening the way the game is played today.

As of today i would have to say Ichiro is probably the only one capable of breaking the hit streak but i seriously doubt it will happen. I think that there are 2 other records which should be added to your list: Cal Ripkin Jr.s consecutive game streak (2,632) and Cy Young's win total (511). with the way the game is these days, players preserving themselves for contract security and how the pitching game has been completely revolutionized from 100 years ago, neither record will come close to being touched

Of those three I would say Pete's hits. Only because today's athletes are better conditioned thus they have longer careers. If you can get around 190 hits per year for 21 years you can do it, but you would have to become a starter by the time you are like 21. Miguel Cabrera if he stops eating so much?

Hit streak I feel is just a matter of time until someone does it...I would say career wins will never even be close to being broken. I don't even see a player getting within 100 wins of that record.

If you want to talk about a different time - let's talk about homers! The fences used to be 100ft, farther out, the strike-zone was much bigger, the mound was higher, the ball wasn't near as lively, and the pitching wasn't watered down. The HR record is the one that has been affected the most by the modern game - even if we didn't have steroids!

What about Johnny Vander Meers's 2 no hitters in a row? Might be tied, but doubt anyone could ever pitch 3 straight.

I actually think the one that will NEVER be broken is Ripken's consecutive games streak. All of those will be extremely tough to break, but I imagine it will happen... not anytime soon though.
