If you stubbed your toe or something and it's black and blue and falling off...don't do anything. It'll fall off on its own. I used to have this happen all the time from my ski boots. Just keep the nail clipped short so that it doesn't catch on anything and you may want to keep a band-aid over it. Otherwise, just let it do it's thing. Yeah, it's annoying, but it'll hurt like hell if you try to rip it off.

If you have not had an injury that might have caused the discoloration, it's probably a fungus. Either way, the fact that it's coming off is actually a good sign, it's trying to heal itself. Normally, after it falls off completely, a new healthy nail will start to grow in its place. You might want to have a doctor check it out just to be sure though. If the doctor says it is a fungus, you can apply tea tree oil to it several times a day for a few weeks, just to make sure the fungus is completely dead and the new nail comes in healthy.

It's ingrowing, it'll hurt REALLY bad if you dont go to a doctor now, they'll numb the toe, cut off the excess nail and make it so it'll never grow back into the toe again, I had mine done a year ago after agony, it's been fine since ^^
