I keep seeing this "wordplay" where people will say..."the democratic ""HELD"" congress has a lower approval than Bush"... as opposed to just sayig "congress as a WHOLE has a lower approval rating". It's just wordplay.
However, when people are asked about just the democrats in congress.. their approval is 47%, with a 21% margin over republicans.

I really don't think congress's approval is solely caused by democrats.
If i'm a republican, I might be dissappointed with congress as a whole, because there are too many democrats in it.
If i'm a democrat, I might be also disappointed with congress, because republicans are obstructing...
The approval rating of congress as a whole, has always been lower than the president. It just irritates me to hear the constant wordplay about "democratic held congress" when really we're talking about Congress as a whole.. FOX news has repeated this phrase so many times now it's sickening.

Thank you for posting this. I have been arguing with several Conservatives about this very issue. They argue that the Congress has a low approval rating and refuse to see that the reason for this is because of the Republicans who are preventing the Democrats from doing the job they where elected to do.

It would be hard for the Democratic led Congress to do much worse; however, if Barney Frank and Chris Dodd's roles in the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac debacle becomes mainstream news, the approval rating will decline further. Currently all bad things that happen are attributed to Pres. Bush. Right now, the media is painting Barney Frank as the guy who is going to fix things! 10 months ago, he proclaimed Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as 'solid and in good shape.' God help us all. Only when the old guard of Reid, Frank, Pelosi, Dodd, Biden, Kennedy, ..... are voted out will things change. Believe me, there are idiots on both sides, but until we all become independents rather than Democrats and Republicans, and start digging beyond what the media wants us to believe, we will continue to be pawns of the current media and political machines.

Yep - that and the fact the 14% number quoted was for "high approval" - which ignores the people who just approved. Taken together the total was higher than Bush.
Too hard to explain to a con - they don't deal with complex things very well. If a 5 year old can't get it in one try - it's too "intellectual".

What does it matter, whether the democrats in congress have a higher approval rating than the republicans in congress?
Don't they have to work together to make anything work?

Try the Zagby poll.....the numbers are quite different....bottom line is, Congress' approval ratings have plummetted since Pelosi and Reid took over.

Most of the polls do not break comgress down by party for approval ratings. Those that do indicate something much as you have described.

If reading these polls make you feel better than so be it. The American people can plainly see the socialist/communist agenda that the Dems are trying to shove down people's throats.
