The average American does not have a savings account. You would be surprised how little people can put away for the future. If you want more info you can rent a documentary called "Maxed Out" about credit cards and spending habits. It's really interesting. My husband and I have at least one month of our salaries in savings and have very little on our credit cards. I'm a teacher and he has an MCSE in computers.

I have a savings account at my bank and i have saved $477 but I have had $579 at one point, but then I blew it all.

We do. Quite a bit. My husband and I both work in I.T.
