It is stupidity. They think they know it all and they cannot see the importance of staying in school. You are probably wasting your time trying to talk them into going back. Try talking them into getting their ged instead. When they get old enough to realize what they have done, they will regret it and they will remember you trying to talk them into going back. They will feel guilty that they did not listen to you. Since they have already dropped, they will not go back. Just let them learn from their mistakes and trust me, they will!

I dropped out right at the last few months, I was behind in my credits because I got a great job that paid $15 an hour and will go up and did I got married everything just happened at once. Also I have ADHD and I know that's no excuse but it made school very very hard to do and I didn't have time to go back to school and I'm the head of international and Commercial sales for a company I have a good thing going right now and if i took some time off to go back to school then it would pass me by and they don't care I don't have my high school diploma.

It has been awhile since I have been in high school, I ended up quitting in 10th grade. The reason I quit was because I could not learn in the enviroment I was in. I have ADHD and am hard of hearing, the school was an open school no classrooms just lofts. I could not learn there, I got my GED 6 months after quitting and have gone on to get an Associate today and am working on my Bachlors in Psychology. For your friends keep being their friend and encourage them to get their GED and maybe go to college.

some find it hard to concentrate. (personally i think it is stupid to drop out when you only have a few yrs left but...) some people just dont like it. they go but dont do any work. they feel that their time is better spent on something else. at least for the people who get their GED's and get a job are somewhat better off than people who just stop coming. but.... for your case i think that hang out with them if you want. just dont get dragged into what they are in. dont let them convince you to skip school or drop out. if you think they are doing bad stuff then stop seeing them. just remember that its Family, School, then Friends.
have fun :)

People make choices when they're young that soon they will regret, hang out with a new crowd, that's what I've done.
By the way is not your fault, don't blame yourself for them not listening to you. Everyone does not have the same goals or ambition to succeed in life. And yes it sucks, one day they'll be hoping for you to help them out again and well in such case, help them out!

Where are their parents? And, do they realize that this day in age, it's hard just to get a job with a college degree? They need to tough it out. I wonder how they will like being broke for the rest of their life all because they didn't like their teachers. So, you are basically telling me, that they are allowing someone else to control their life...? They need to get it together.

My Father had this perspective - - "If you can't handle something as simple as SCHOOL, you surely won't be able to successfully handle the REAL world." He also pointed out that even McDonald's doesn't like hiring drop outs - they view them as lazy, irresponsible, and undependable. Now, I have two friends that OWN big name fast food places, and they both agree!!!
You probably ARE wasting your time with your lazy friends, BUT, please keep trying - if you get only one to go back, you have done wonders!!!

theree not wasting your time. college is not for everyone and a lot of people can not afford it, hence the large drop out rate. i would not stop hanging out with them just becuase of that.

Peopl drop out because they think they can move on to bigger and better things. Sometmes it's beacuse they dont like. Don't try to convince them to come back becasue they won't. you should just enjoy your educated life

Those are also the same people that grow up and mature and end up having to go back and make up credits or get their G.E.D., and/or end up with dead-end jobs that they can never support themselves with.
