i mean like, would it suck u up if it went the other way? i dont CARE if i sound like a retard!!!

no, it wouldn't suck you up. does it push you against the ground the way it is now??? NO. It goes clockwise because that is how the fan blades are designed. To push air downward. Theoretically, if you reversed the fan blade positions and designed the motor to rotate counterclockwise, it would do the same thing...

I don't think there is any particular reason for fans to move in a clockwise direction. I think we are used to things moving in a clockwise direction, so people just build things this way.

I looked at the fans in our house. We have 3 portable fans that all turn clockwise, and 3 ceiling fans that can turn either direction. Two of the ceiling fans blow downward in a clockwise direction, and upward in a counterclockwise direction. The orientation of the blades is reversed in the one ceiling fan that turns th opposite direction.

It doesn't really matter. It just depends on how the motor is designed. Whether they go clockwise or counterclockwise is only a matter of convention.

If you reversed the direction, it would simply blow air out the back end instead of the front.....

Most ceiling fans are "reversible", and can move in either direction, to be more efficient during the winter.

It has to do with the direction of the electromagnetic field. Thats why a lot of plugs have one prong larger than the other, b/c the instrument being used is sensitive to that... or doesn't have the ability to correct it. To find out the direction of the field is very simple. With your right hand, curl your fingers in the direction of the field, such as the direction of the fan blades. Where your thumb is pointing is where the current is going. If you reverse the 'polarity' the fan will spin in another direction, and your thumb will be in the inverse.
