Quite frequently on this site it appears that there are huge numbers of far left-wingers . But then when listening to liberals on TV debate a point it turns out that many of them are far more moderate than their counterparts on Y/A . I still disagree with most of their viewpoints , but I also see more rational arguments from them .
So why is that ?
Are the liberals on here less representative of the liberals in our country as a whole ?
Are there liberals from other countries posing as American liberals on this site ?
Or do liberals on this site defend most anything from another liberal whether they agree with it or not ?

Bush - Boy you're wrong twice . Once with the other user and once when you claimed that I don't think there's right-wingers on here that are extreme . Maybe you need to start re-addressing your own views and accusations .

Liberals are more emboldened when they are in the company of like thinkers. They let loose. But if there are conservatives in their mist, who know how to debate, they start sounding moderate real quick! It's even more dramatic with the Far Left. They just come off sounding stupid.
I think this forum allows Liberals to draw out those that agree with them, and I've noticed they often move around in packs, attacking conservatives in a vile way. They don't want to debate the issue. They want to call you names. I like it when Liberals answer questions respectfully. They may even teach me something. Well...maybe not.

Here people have the anonymity of cyber space and they can say things they would never say in public.
So they have the freedom of going on without having to face the reality of those around them.
As far as the far left goes some think they know it all and should never be question as proven the other day when 1 guy ask KOS 1 question and they threaten him.

Paul did not reject the actual international. He did not meet Jesus in guy or woman before he died, yet he did meet Jesus after his resurrection, it somewhat is why curiously to you that he 'renounced any wisdom of Jesus with the aid of human components'. He grew to become into purely being trouble-free approximately how he met him. As for issues seen and unseen, Paul isn't rejected this existence (he has lots to assert approximately it), yet he's refuting the thought this existence is all there is. This existence must be seen in the sunshine of our eternal destiny, and that's while issues are going to be desirable and executed (fairly than in this existence). yet Paul rejected any recommendations that the actual international did not count. His writings are packed along with his arguments against that concept. So of direction Paul could have ordinary the walking, speaking, genuine existence Jesus. it somewhat is the Jesus he preached.

I agree with both Pip and Sweetpea on this. What I'll add is that, from where I sit, it's the Far Right that gets play on Y!A that is out of proportion with reality.
I'm pretty liberal but in real life, I'm not as liberal as my Y!A identity.
If this were a conversational blog site, we would all be having more discussion, tossing points and counterpoints, seeing where the common ground is and where the non-starters are marked. But this Y!A site is (for better or worse) more of a megaphone site - you get ONE shot to make your point on any given issue, then you go away and deal with real friends, real neighbors, real coworkers, all of whom have opinions closer to same than to different.
As for those from other countries, I have no idea.
As for defending other like-minded views, not so for me.

Maybe more left wingers have PC's. I'm from the left side and generally speaking I don't agree with everything that I read. Doesn't matter to me if it's left or right. I look at the problem as a whole, not as our problem or THEIR problem. It's all our problem - as long as we are citizens of the USA. I live in a republic state as far as the voting register states, but us lefties are here too. I believe that the people here on YA, just speak their mind. It is a place where you can voice your opinion and not get tarred and feathered. I enjoy reading and answering questions that refer to us liberals as being - "Swap water alligator wrestling begets." I will step up to the plate, but try not to step on toes if all possible. Coming from a Democratic family it is instilled in me, that the right way to live life is to be able to be free and make our own choices and in turn deal with the reaction because of the actions that I have chosen. It's a choice and I thank God everyday that I still have them and they are not being taken away...... as of yet.

Surely you must be kidding. Bush has only a 25% approval rating, but he gets support from about 50% of the askers and answerers here. That's a disproportionately high number number of right-wingers.
As others have said above, there are extremists on both sides and they're about equally divided, while the moderate majority goes mostly unnoticed.
All you have to do is read the answers to this question to see it. There are just as many far-right answers as far-left -- maybe more -- and the rest fall somewhere in between.

As a moderate (true fiscal conservative and true social liberal), I have noticed that this site attracts extremists from both wings pretty much equally in disproportionate numbers compared to real life.
This results in this site being used as a battle ground for extremism similar to the extreme partisan politics that is ever present in our government.
This is due to the people having to choose between the lesser of two evil candidates that more often than not are extremists themselves.
Furthermore the moderates are accused of being both left wing by the extreme right and right wing by the extreme left.
If your own position is one of extreamism (which no one ever admits), this can further skew your perception of prevalence of one group or another.

Nope. Most people are NOT prudish right wing ideologues at home!
"liberals" reptresent the casual style of most Americans.
Casual and NOT ideological.
Why is this the only place the right can get away with saying this like this...THAT DONT APPLY IN REAL LIFE?
Have another beer.

I believe it can be attributed to several factors.
Anonymity is one. People get on here at state the opinions that they would never state to their friends. And they use name calling and hatred to do it.
Another contributing factor is their age. I think that a lot of times it is the people that are too young to vote yet, and they are only listening to their friends and parents point of views. They don't do any research enough to form their own opinions and they become very vocal in what they think is right to believe.
I do not defend other peoples thought. What I do defend is their right to have them.
As I have stated previously, I have raised 3 daughters and am now raising some of my grandchildren. My daughter's families and I do not always think alike. Heck, my husband belongs to one political party and I to another. But we do not discuss politics in this house because it can get really heated and I do not wish to have that in my home.
But I raised all of my children to think for themselves, research, and form their own opinions. I DO NOT want them to vote for anyone just because that is who I voted for. I want them to be independent in every way possible. BUT I do want them to vote.

Far Left/Right, doesn't really matter. The participants here rarely represent the prevalent 'real-life' sentiment.
Extremists don't get much air time in real life. Nobody wants to hang out with them or the real people just cut them off and talk over them.
Here they have a captive audience for their vitriol.
I think it's hysterical. It's good to observe it because real people seem so much more normal when you leave here.
It restores my faith in humanity. Normalcy and reason don't seem like such a big deal until contrasted with angry irrational extremists. This helps me be thankful for it.
