Hi it's me again, I have another question about marriages and the Catholic church. I've been with my fiancé for 9 yrs & we have a child together. I want to get married in the church and I know I will have to get my previous divorces annulled I'm not sure how long it will take or how much money, but you guys have been very helpful so I need advise again.
Even though I have not been with my ex for 10 yrs the divorce was just finalized last week and I can get married again in 30 days. My fiancé wants to rush to the J.P and have a civil marriage right away, but I want to be married in the church. His compromise was that we'll get married first by the JP and then get married in the church because the annulments will take awhile and such. I read the cannon law and I am allowed to use conscious for this decision but even my conscious wants this done right, but it also tells me I have a kid with him & we've been together along time.
He thinks I'm making too much of it. What should I do?

Sweet Pea I think he is right. if you know you are going to pay alot of money out of pocket for an annulment than have a civil marriage and then you save your money so you can have a big marriage to where you can invite family and friends. You don't want to be completely broke so take it one step at a time. If you don't you can overwhelm the family finances and that is not a good way to start your new marriage. Good luck!

The two of you have been together for a long time and you have a child together. I would go to the JP now and on your 10 year anniversary renew your vows in the church. It is not about where you get married, it is about what you put into the marriage. Good luck on your decision.

Save your money for your child,t his would cost you a lot. Why not get married in a cheap small ceramony and then start going to church every Sunday, that will be a good way to set a good example for your son. The Catholic religon is a great religon to bring your son up in.

Hi, I also got married at the JP first and than two months later we had a church wedding. It has not effected our relationship at all. Don't forget one thing that is important in a marrige. Trust! Trust that God don't make mistakes and if it's in his will than everything will work out fine. God bless...
