wow, ask a simple question and people jump all over you. I didn't see anywhere in your question where you asked if people thought they would win the super bowl like another poster did.
I understand your question. And like most Steeler fans, was really nervous about this upcoming season. We really didn't make any off-season moves, the new coach, etc.
I was definately please with last nights performance and I will be cautiously optimistic. But, what I really liked was:
A. It seemed Tomlin really had the guys ready to play.
B. The offensive line did a great job up front.
C. The defense was swarming to the ball and hitting people really hard.
D. They may have discovered the next bruising TB in Cary Davis. His run in the second quarter when he went up the middle, ran over a LB, then bounced to the right side line for 60 - 70 yard was pretty reminiscent of another running back who retired last year. I'm not going to compare Davis to him just yet, but he did look promising.

I am a biased Steelers fan who waits all year for any semblance of Steeler football..I think the Steelers are God's gift to the NFL..last nite I had a huge b*ner....
Then I woke up this A.M. and realized it's the 6th of August..the Steelers probably won't make it to the Super Bowl, so I'm not going to say that, but it was nice to see them stomping some a** again

It was an impressive win last night.
But......IT WAS A PRESEASON GAME.
These games are designed to:
1) Evaluate talent (i.e. guys who may/may not make the 53 man roster)
2) Hit someone other than your teammates
3) Play at full speed
4) Warm up for the starters
Again, what I saw looked good but I'm not ready to crown them SB champs.
Last I noticed, Lombardi Trophys aren't handed out in August.

They are garbage. If they go 6-10 they will be extreamly lucky. They can only go 6-10 IF they beat Cleveland twice. There future looks good but keep your money in your pocket if you are thinking of betting the Steelers this year.

I think they played one game that doesn't mean anything, and probably neither team really was going full force.
I do agree it did give us a chance to see the new pissburgh coach and rookies a little bit.

you can't be serious.
OK let me explain what happened last night for you steeler fans.
1. You have a brand new coach
2. He MUST make an impression to win you guys over
3. Hmm let's see....Run his defense and offense regular season plays blitzing.... the entire 9...etc.....while the other team runs the very basic vanilla preseason Offense/defense like everyone else normally does.
Mission accomplished. You won the game, looked impressive and the fans are sold after only one meaningless pre-season game.
6-10, 7-9 at best for you guys.

its just one preseason game. just b/c they were good last night doesn't mean they are gonna win all the time. they could lose the next five games. no one knows. last night was luck. that's all.
