Oooh, damn good question!
I'd say it possibly hasn't, it's just made us more aware of the evil we're capable of. However, you could argue that some philosophies are inherently evil, especially where it espouses the supremacy of one group over another and the necessity of eradicating the weaker group. But it gives us the ability to break away from dogma, like Voltaire argued after the Portuguese earthquake which left thousands dead, how could a merciful god justify this? I don't think philosophy is harmful, I think it's us, we'd commit an act any way, we just use Philosophical argument for an excuse.

The study of philosophy inevitably leads to comparison. And comparison often includes rating each thing from best to worst. But since phiosophy is quite personal, that leads to argument and anger. If a philosophical debate reaches a large enough scale, it can lead to wars.

I think philosophy has done more to confuse people than help. Philosophy is entirely too subjective and really solves nothing. Often it creates more problems than it solves.

The study of philosophy is merely an outcropping of the natural evolution of the human brain.
Among other things that we have done wrong, we have created nuclear bombs and computers and forums that let the unemployed and friendless escape their lackluster lives.

The study of life is totally pointless for human beings because we have morphed life into something next to meaningless for all of those but us. We can never really understand life if we constantly slaughter animals, because that proves that many of us think of life as something pointless. To truly study life, you must life with it. Nobody has truly understood life since the primitive people of long ago. We only have a twisted idea of what it is. We are the only beings that kill themselves, the only beings who kill for fun.
