I see a ton of answers to peoples questions in this area that emphasize trying to talk loved ones out of being gay.

Could anyonone talk you out of being straight.?

heres the thing. we know it isnt a choice because then straight guys would have to admit they were faced with the choice in the first place. that they actually had experienced a gay urge themselves and had to choose and we all know that ain't happening. once one guy admits to another that he had a gay urge he is then officially bisexual.

The fact is some guys have the choice, and those who do generally don't agonize over it. They are guys so they fulfill the urge. not a lot of thinking going on there. there are so many avenues of opportunity available that its a no brainer.

its only the guys who feel trapped by only having gay urges that go through most of the pain

this is my own experience with several of my friends who later went on to get married.

so what do you base the belief on?

MR Jello .You were duped. you and thaousands of others. I'm not singling you out at all.

women who want babies before their biological clocks tick out frequently resort to screwing over innocent men

In the same way too many men do to women. they have their children then they are out.

it doesn't matter who gets hurt in the process. It doesn't even mean they didnt love you once they could be bi from the start but not want to give in to it.

it just means that they pushed away their feelings long enough to squeeze out a kid or two before caving to the desires that were always there. the least they should have done be honest.

If gay really is genetic this is how it is passed on

gays everywhere want to adopt but they are forced into these underground surrogate arrangements with lesbians who also want kids. if the genetic link is ever establiblished it will be most dominant there.where a gay gene would come from both sides

I think this question tangles up a lot of social convention and labels with sexuality, something our country seems to be overly obsessed with. I personally believe that one's sexuality is hard-wired; how one LIVES one's life in accordance with that--or not--is a choice. And you are correct to pose the question back: "Why aren't you gay? Why did you choose to be straight?" I've found that this tends to cause people to take pause and think a bit. If aspects like discrimination, judgment, shame, superiority, religion, prosecution and taboo didn't figure into the equation, I think you'd see the more subtle gradations of the sexual spectrum emerge.

i don't think of you are able to rule out the possibility that for some people sexual orientation ought to alter with time and condition. We do are conscious of it can not be consciously controlled or chosen. perchance at a while interior the destiny, while we've found out plenty extra approximately how sexual charm works, medicine or psychology will detect some thank you to alter sexual orientation for people who choose that. yet for now, you're able to anticipate you will continuously be gay, and that if there's a God, that this might nicely be a factor of ways God made you.

Some do choose it, but not all. Just like some gay people choose to live heterosexual lives due to whatever reasons.
Same goes with some straight people.

People cahnge all the time. My ex wife and I were married for 10 years and had 2 kids before she changed teams. My stepdaughter was a lesbian in high school and dropped that life choice after 6 years and is now engaged to be married to a nice man.

Anne Heche was engaged to Ellen but let her to marry a guy.

There is 'gay for pay' where people have gay sex for money.

There is no gay gene, gays are more likely to come from divorced homes raised by their mother than to have other members of their family gene pool gay as well.

I think the better question would be why would anyone think that gay wasn't a choice?

I agree with you. For some it is a choice, for most it is not. I know as far as I'm concerned, it was NOT a choice. I fought it for a long time, but I could never win because that is just not who I am.

the people who think it can change are usually the bigots or family who do not want to admit their child is gay

I think the belief is based in prejudice - they are against "different lifestyles" and insist that you are choosing to do it.

because they're either not well informed (which is disgusting), either they are pathetically religious (don't take me wrong, I do believe in God), either they're annoyingly close-minded. that's it :)
