Most Chinese will do a mini confinement, perform a ritual/prayer for the foetus if getting pregnant is not a forbidden case (eg underaged, unwed).
Wonder what do other races/people do?

My friend slept for a few hours, then cried for a few days, felt sick for awhile (i think that was both physical and emotional) and was pissed at herself for not having the strength to carry a child of the ex boyfriend who beat and raped her. Then she finally paid for a 16" tattoo on her leg of an Angel raising the baby up towards the gates of heaven. Another girl I knew who had an abortion acted like it didn't affect her at all.

This doesn't answer your question, but..
Geez, what a bunch of jerks on this website!
Most people don't just get abortions for the hell of it, and if they do then that's a problem.
A mother's own life is far more important than that of an embryo or fetus, and that is why we are given the choice to abort.
I am so sick of this self-righteous crap.
There are already too many unwanted children in the world along with too many sickened by serious disease and illness!

Well, culturally here I think that most do not do anything. Personally, I am completely against abortion...But a good part of America is pro-choice...not sure why, but that seems to be the trend. Anyway, there is no cultural celebration, confinement, ritual that I am aware of here in America once an abortion is performed. I assume that it is guilt for murdering an innocent child and shame for those who do not believe in it.
and to mom2jjorion:
its not self-righteous CRAP as you so called it. its about responsibility. i got pregnant because i was irresponsible as MOST women do! i would never have thought of having an abortion simply because it would interfere with my life plans. shouldve thought of that before i opened my legs! i think the idea is more about education rather than preaching about having the right to terminate a child who never chose this life. do a little more research and get an education before you start ranting and raving about your pro-choice lifestyle. not to mention, of course people do not just say "well, guess ill get an abortion today"...everyone takes it seriously, BUT its the irresponsible actions that occur before abortion is even an option that lead us to the conclusion that if you can't handle adult situations (i.e. pregnancy), then you shouldnt be making adult choices (i.e. opening your legs). it is truly not that difficult to abstain from sex or use protection when you are not ready for a child. i am interested in stats regarding how many women got pregnant unexpectedly because of an irresponsible choice...i am assuming that it is within the 85%-95% range if not higher. this should tell us something about our society and the need for education rather than the easy way out by using abortion. i got pregnant when i was 19, dirt poor, and unmarried. i am a college graduate with an amazing job, and a wonderful husband who is also very successful (father of my daughter), and a beautiful daughter. if you want to make it work, you can. using abortion because you're not ready is BS to me. i am living proof that it can be done. abortions happen because people don't want to take responsibility and grow up yet. PERIOD.

Most people just mourn the loss. Some need counseling to help with it.
Some remain in denial for years that they needed to mourn and so get "stuck" in the past.

As a country, there is no ritual I'm aware of in the U.S. It would be a matter of personal and religious preference.

Take time our to heal, depending on your Religious affiliation, cal the Priest, Minister or other, ask for forgiveness, and do not have any sexual relations, married or not, until you both agree that you are ready to have children . I am sorry you had to have an abortion, get well, may God bless you and heal you .

In the US there isn't really anything that you do except take some time to physically heal.
