Melodic punk rock? You are going in to too much detail, there is punk and there is pop-punk or hardcore punk (which is made my kids who are just jumping on a bandwagon).

check out "At Point Break" by The Unseen and "This Song Is Definately Not About A Girl" by Set Your Goals. those are the two best punk bands i've ever heard
