YOu ask a question which could be answered by e.g.having watched t.v. or read it in a book or just know the answer . But there is always someone who gives the answer and a link to a www.something or other. Surely the asker could have done that in the first place . It usually comes from "top contributor". Keep checking answers bet you see more of them. What you think?

Well... I bounce around and answer different questions on different topics and I see alot of what you're seeing.
I think maybe the people who just give links figure that the question asker cant figure out how to use the internet themselves - which is a total contradiction - because we are on Answers - right? lol
Or - they might not know the answer and only know the site - and they dont wanna do ALL THE WORK for you when its on a topic they arent interested in. Like yesterday, someone asked a question about what kind of soap to use when washing a baseball cap in a dishwasher. I've heard of that practise - but never actually did it - so I looked up the answer for him and sent thim the link.... but... I did state in my answer that I was just trying to help out.

I am a top contributor and I very rarely use links to answer questions.....you can go back and look if you would like! But yes I agree with you if I'm going to ask a question I want an answer from someone who also watches the show and I want their opinion. Not just someone that is good at looking up things on google and such!

i'm thankful to get any answers, i always try and answer from personal experience personal knowledge or hindsight, but if i dont know for sure i'll wiki it. i wont paste the link i'll try and condense it instead. i much prefer a wiki link than a "up urs dumbnuts" or even better this old chestnut "ur mom". i genuinely believe even though it might be a pasted link at least their hearts are in the right place.

It depends on the question. Some questions don't necessarily have a "correct" answer, like when you are asking for someones opinion.
There have been some links on here to some really useful information that you might not necessarily have found even if you used google etc.

thats the piont you are supposed to do this. Answers is for pepole who dont want to go to the trouble of looking all over the internet so they ask in here and with all the people on here working with them they are more likely to find the answer - on or off of the internet.
It is better that people show a place where people can get more information than to give anwers that they heard elsewhere. That way people can verify it and possibly help them even more.

Isn't that why there is a box to show your source?
I think most people are trying to help if they put a link to an answer, but I take your point that there are "points parasites" on here who answer questions with things like Yes, No or ......

what if they haven't read the book or watched it, or just know the answer... shouldn't they still try to help..?
dr bad
If they are mainly top contributors doing this ...maybe you are in the minority and most people appreciate it

I think links can be pretty useful, for instance if you know something about the show or whatever you can explain, but providing a source is factual and informative people can read that as it wouldn't normally be to opiniated compared to your answer.

I don't post links but I can't say it annoys me if someone does,so long as it's a useful link. The top contributors are so called because people have chosen their answer as best,so they must be a bit knowledgable it their answers.xx

I wouldn't let it annoy you. Obviously, they wanted to answer your question for you, didn't know the answer and went to look for it. All they are telling you is that that is where they found the answer they gave you. If I answer a rabbit question and if I got the answer from a book, I would say that that is where I got the answer from, so what is the difference.
