Yes, the mass media does effect socialization throughtout a society. The mass media is controling, what is said and seen on the radio and on the television. What is being said on the radio, depends on the radio stations which is an agent to the mass media. The mass media is associated with the radio stations, to announce the news of daily activities.
As far as it goes for television, the mass media is not helping what is said and seen on tv. The cable network and the mass media, don't realize there are too amy rated-r shows being seen. On tv there are too many shows, showing violence. Of course the mass media and the cable network, are airing these shows when kids and teens can watch them. Kids and teens are watching the violence, and then thinks that it is funny. Next they tell their friends about the violent tv shows they saw, and they come up with ways, to repeat the violence.
When teens and kids repeat violence from tv shows, it is often seen as bullying. Next to our attention, we have teens and kids acting out violent acts in american schools. Violent acts do cause conflicts, which happen to cause further conflicts in schools. Althought this may have been told to the mass media, they pretend it doesn't exist. In thise case, the mass media and the cable network don't care, about what's happening to our country.
The bullying in our schools, are out of control.

This question is much more complicated than it seems. The mass media operates for one reason only. It is not to inform the public but rather to make a profit. This makes it the antithesis of socialism.
People think that the media pushes socialism but the truth is that you have many parts of the media that push all different attitudes.
So the general answer to your question is No.

females are socialized by their families and the mass media they view and how people treat females after viewing the mass media. So when the TV or news talk about women's bodies instead of their views, news and issues, especially for women who are CEOs, Congress members, and other important people, this socializes everyone to treat real females in this degrading manner. A woman's views at work are affected by the men who interrupt her constantly when she is speaking, make fun of her attire or jewelry or otherwise degrade the atmosphere in the workplace.

Big time. It's not so much us who cares so much about Paris Hilton or LIndsay Lohan's dui's...it's media just obsessing on evrything negative in anything. Look for the media to find anything morbid, or snakey about anything or anyone and showing it to us over and over and over.
The stock mkt fell last week by 400 points or so and it was all doom and gloom, but when it had jumped, steadily for the gains it made nothing was said...because it would mean the economy was good and they couldn't stand to say that anything is good.

There is absolutely NO doubt about it!
Do you ever hear anything promoting the exercise of free enterprise or personal responsibility coming out of the news?
It is ALWAYS make the government responsible for the actions of individuals.
No one is responsible for anything, except possibly a Republican conservative president. Now, cars go out of control all by themselves, according to news reports. Drivers NEVER loose control, it is the CAR that is responsible!
The supreme court is now too Conservative. We need more judges like Justice Ginsburg who thinks MANBLA (Man-Boy Love Association) is just fine with her. Anything goes!
According to the current trend, we need more Marxism.
We need more great Americans like Michael Moore. We must stop talk radio. It is against everything the main-stream media is for and they let the PEOPLE of America. have too much access to give THEIR opinions out over the air.
For FREEDOM OF SPEECH we MUST stop talk radio! That,
in the opinion of the main-stream media, will assure proper enforcement of freedom of speech!
