Hopefully the US will give Texas back to Mexico, and GWB with it since he comes from there.

Texas was not taken by force. Texas came willingly to the U.S. and they are the only state in the union that has the right to secede if they so choose.
For those of you that are uninformed:
1) Texas was its own country when it joined the U.S. not part of Mexico.
2) We lost the Battle of the Alamo.
3) In no way did we win Texas as the result of a war.

Sure, as soon as Mexico returns Mexico to the Aztecs and Mayans. Mexico and America warred over Texas. Mexico did not win. What do they want now? A "Do over"?
Mexico is pretty much a sewer of corruption. The racial discrimination against the indiginous people there, the drug lords, the lack of a middle class all result in the sad state Mexico finds itself in. If they could somehow manage to take back Texas they would be larger but just as corrupt.

The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
"Mexican officials and Nicholas Trist, President Polk's representative, began discussions for a peace treaty that August. On February 2, 1848 the Treaty was signed in Guadalupe Hidalgo, a city north of the capital where the Mexican government had fled as U.S. troops advanced. Its provisions called for Mexico to cede 55% of its territory (present-day Arizona, California, New Mexico, and parts of Colorado, Nevada and Utah) in exchange for fifteen million dollars in compensation for war-related damage to Mexican property."
this is what la raza (the race) wants to reclaim, the whole territories ceeded by this treaty. sry, it was paid for legal and proper.

Yeah, and some Russians want to take back Alaska too....
Texas sovereingty is the same as it is for the rest of the 50 states, it shares sovereingty between itself and the federal government... or at least it does on paper...
Lately (and by lately I mean since about 1913[see 16th, 17th, and 18th Amendments]) the federal government has been usurping soverengty from the states, leading to the near death of federalism in the United States, and now States are little more than administrative divisions...
Still, at least on paper, State soveriengty is as was discribed above... split between federal and state authority... perhaps it's time for the paper to connect with the reality?

Obviously you have never been to Texas.
Go there.
It won't be long before you get the idea that Texans consider themselves and independent nation that is occupying the United States not the other way 'round.

Hmm, give it back to Mexico even though you won it fairly. Just the fact that it produced the Bush presidents and is the setting for the most demented and horrible show called Walker, Texas Ranger, are reasons enough to get rid of it. Not to mention that most of the fat cat oil barons reside there...

early 1800s-
Americans chose to create Texas out of the province of Coahuila, which at the time was not populated very densely by Mexicans- remember this is the racist 19th Century, America wanted an empty space that it could very rapidly fill with white, English speaking settlers without any competition from Mexico.
Anyways we fought the Battle of the Alamo and we won Texas fair and square.

Meico has already invaded Texas; and California, Arizona, New Mexico. All they need to do now is send the uniforms for their troops.
Jon H-----Texas tried to secede in 1861. Didn't work.

I think Texas could survive on its own, without DC or Mexico. Texas should just secede from the Union. Maybe this time we'd let them go without contest.
