No, they are not. Even these radicals realize this much. The overall goal of terrorists is not an allout takeover of another Western nation. The purpose of terrorism is to terrorize, to instill constant fear and paranoia into the mindset of not only the general populace but to those in power as well. This, in turn, leads those in power to react irrationally and cause even more harm to its own citizens. In a sense, the terrorists have already won on this front.

It would have to be a very weak and small western nation. A nation such as the United States, the United Kingdom, or Canada would not be able to be overthrown except by the most powerful of military force (I know Canada doesn't have a big military. I'm just pointing out what it would take to overturn the government). Terrorist attacks cannot actually do enough damage to a major wester nation to weaken it sufficiently for takeover. What they can do, however, is make the leaders of that country react in ways which, in effect, weaken or change the very basis of the nation. While this would not lead to fundamentalist Muslims taking control, it would lead to a de facto change in the country itself.

Some people try to make you believe that. The Bush Junta in particular. To maintain any kind of authority they have to keep pushing an 'outside' enemy...in this case a collection of half-@ssed thugocracies that even all together can't even take on a postage stamp sized country like Israel. Also, all of these things cut both ways. The west is fully capable of destroying everything above ground in any of these 3rd world hell holes..and they know it. As far as 'infiltration' of muslims into the west, their danger is restricted to criminal acts. In the west laws can't exceed the limits of a national constitution. The Bush Junta believes that it's possible, but just look at the push back...a sudden 29% approval rating. Just keep the faith, folks. This muslim business is just another blip on the radar of history. Just don't forget the 'eternal vigilence' thing and we'll be okay!

Islamic have no planes no armies and can only use espionage to alter any country but it should not be taken lightly.Creative persons have shown us how committed these extremists are and can manipulate their way into some strategic situations. So we must not be so naive and begin a new relationship to change the hearts and minds of persons who hate us because we have so much. America is a great nation who could teach persons how to be more productive in their own country so as not to need our civilization which is much to liberal for them as well. Factories, and housing could be assets we could help Iraq with to help them create a financial structure of their own without the need for financial assistance from Iran.
