Batting average = hits divided by at bats.
At bats excludes walks, sacrifices, hit-by-pitch.
Includes reaching by error and fielder's choice.
Balls, strikes, swings, fouls, etc. are irrelevant. Only the at bat is statistically relevant.

Batting average is calculated by dividing the number of HITS a player gets by the number of AT BATS they have. An AT BAT is a PLATE APPEARANCE that ends with an attempt at putting the ball in play to reach base. PLATE APPEARANCES (recorded every time a player steps to the plate) minus walks, hit by pitches, and sacrafice plays (a batted ball put in play resulting in the batsman being called out while advancing/driving in a runner) equals the number of AT BATS a player has.

batting standard is calculated via dividing the style of hits via the style of circumstances a participant has an 'at-bat'. An 'at-bat' ability the participant the two hits the ball or is struck-out (or by some ability gets out). So permit's say a baseball participant performs in 10 video games. He is going to bat 30 circumstances. he's walked 5 circumstances, and is hit via a pitch two times. for this reason his 'at-bats' are 23. He gets effectual 8 circumstances, strikes out thrice, and grounds out 12 circumstances. Therefor his batthing standard is 8/23, or .348.

The number of hits divided by number of at bats.
You have to get on base without a fileding error, and a walk is not considered an at bat.

You batting average is based on your hits per at bat ratio. Walks do not count as an at-bat so they are not figured in.
If a hitter gets up to the plate 13 times, walks 3 times and gets on base via hit 6 times, he is batting .600
13-3= 10 at bats. 6 for 10 = .600
I hope this helps.
