I have been growing jade plants for 15 years and either method that Juan has stated will work.

However, I allow the leaf cutting or stem cutting to sit for a few days so that the open wound will heal up before subjecting it moisture.

One can have a new Crassula (Jade) plant by propogating it vegetatively.Choose a branch (Ugly ones can be selected as that would help you to maintain the desired shape and also youl'l have a new independent plant).Make sure you follow the vegetative propogation rules if you decide to risk detachment.Happy gardening.

it can be done from one simple leaf. Gently pull one DOWNWARDS from the plant and place the stem side in rooting soil and keep moist. In a few weeks a tiny plant will start.

You can also pinch the top inch or two of a branch. I would suggest using a rooting hormone like rootone, place in moist soil and it should root.
