Ok I am gooing to make this as detailed as possible for a more accurate answer.

My last period was on March 12th. I had sex on March 23rd. Around the 1st week of April I felt like if it had finally happened so I took a pregnancy test on April 6th and it came back negative. Then on April 8th we has sex again. On April 9th I spotted for one day. Took another test on April 18th and it was positive. When I went to the doctor on April 20th I was five weeks pregnant. Did conception occur on March 23rd but the test read negative because it was still too early to tell?? Please help?? When did conception take place.? Today I am 21 weeks pregnant.

If those are the only 2 days you had sex it would be pretty safe to assume you got preg an March 23. If your periods are regular then you should have been fertile about 14 days after last period. Give or take a couple days. There is truly only one day a month that you ovulate and can get preg but because sperm can live more than one day you could get preg before ovulation occurred. It was probably to soon when you took your first test and the dates of how far along you are from the Dr sound very accurate. Conception most likely took place that week of March 23rd.
I have added a link to calculate this all. You will see that it all adds up to The week of March 23rd.
Congratulations :-)

Conception usually happens with 48 hours of intercourse. So was probably from the March 23rd time. (But might have actually happened on 24 or even 25). The April 6th test was probably too early. The test can not detect conception, but rather the present of horomones your body begins to produce about 3-5 weeks after conception. If the test is done before those horomones have reached a high enough level, it will be negative.

It was March 23rd and it was too early for the test to be positive. You would have to have an extremely long cycle to not get pregnant until almost a month after your period. If your period is every 45 days or so then it could have been the 8th but if you are pretty regular it was the 23rd.

looking at the dates you apears more like the march 23rd one was the one that got you pregnant.

a test reads a level of hormone in your system. i normally get the box with 2 in it just to be sure i get a true reading. questions also arise did you take the test with your first pee of the morning? or was it just the end of the day and took the test to make sure.

i get 2 test one to test right away because i am an impatient person and dont like to wait till tommorow when i want to know now. and one for the next day if the test turns out negative.
