I guess he never heard about being an individual or personal choice.
But finds it ok to be a clone of his friends.
By the way he dresses, it sounds like he is just a wanna-be

sorry but i doubt you really are emo. from what i know real emo people don't tell people that they are. it's usually posers who do that. in fact i doubt you've ever even cut yourself out of depression, which is what emo people normally do.
but on topic: i have to agree that this is all part of normal sibling behavior. you'll have to brush this all off. don't take everything he says personally. if need be insult him back and tell him he's a poser with no sense of self-identity because he thinks he's so gangsta or so goth. when he prolly doesn't even like gothic rock... or has ever been in a gang war. :P

Maybe your brother is having a hard time working through his own issues, therefore to keep the attention away from himself, he is lashing his frustrations towards you. Siblings, when younger do this without thinking of how this can scar someone emotionally. You're not a retard because you're able to make up your mind and not role playing adverse styles just to fit into some clic.

This is going to be the hardest thing in the world to do: ignore your brother when he starts bothering you about your clothes. Pretend you don't hear him. All the talking in the world, no matter how rational, will accomplish nothing. He's behaving like all brothers do when they're young; he wants to get a rise out of you. If you don't react, he doesn't have his fun.

Isn't your commenting on his clothes a little hypocritical of you?
Your brother is being a brother, it is a god-given DUTY, not right, to annoy the Hell out of your siblings when you are a brother (older or younger).

Like any antagonizing behavior, he is probably trying to get a rise out of you....ignore the comments and they will stop.

Get your parents to discipline him, or else, you need therapy to deal with relenting abuse. good thing is an adult, who you can pick and chose who you want to be around. Do not hesitate as an adult to leave out abusive people INCLUDING FAMILY! It is your birthrights. I did it and it saved my life and sanity.

Ignore him; and, after a while, he will grow tired of talking to himself and stop.

just reason with him. Tell him it's your life and now his. Tell him to mind his own business.
