well if you are a teen, the best bet would be to tell them together. if you are an adult be creative and get a card that says congrats. grandma and grandpa.

I didn't think that there was a general rule of thumb. I would just say "hey mum and dad you know what you are going to be a Gran and Grandad".

I dont think there is a rule of thumb. It depends on your relationship with them, and what you and your husband decide.
I called my mother, and my mother in law at the same time, (one on the phone, one on the cell) and told them before the pee was even dry on the stick.

If you get along with your parents, arrange a metting and tell them in person. "Mum, Dad, I am pregnant"
OR
If you don't get along with your parents, call them don't see them, "Mum/Dad (who ever you feel better telling) I am pregnant" Listen to there reply. If they start yelling and going on and on, say you will call them later and hang up, let them carm down. If they are happy your gold as gold.
