He is, yes. I am lucky enough to have met the man of my dreams, who is both my soul-mate and my best friend, and now my fiancee. I find that our friendship is what cements us together. So often we treat our partners so badly, and let them show us disrespect, in ways we would never treat our best friends or allow them to treat us.

Saying that, I have spent my whole life in the wrong relationships, allowing these men to massively disrespect me and ultimately, not treating them terribly well. It makes a difference if you have a strong friendship. After all, if you are together for a long time, maybe forever, as you age, the sex may go, other things may no longer be possible, like passtimes and sports you have enjoyed together, but if you are friends, true friends, none of that really matters.

I have had friends when I was single who were male, best friends, but I know from my experiences and all my friends, that it is generally not possible to be friends with a member of the opposite sex without one of the pair feeling something for the other one. It is really healthy to have friends, good friends of both sexes though.

Yes. And despite what people may say, it is hugely possible to be best friends without any sexual tension (or otherwise) with a member of the opposite sex.

The best friends thing may stem from a prior relationship that fizzled out or childhood friends, in which case the relationship is more likely than not similar to that of brother/sister, thusly negating any idea that a sexual relationship could form.

My best friend is a chic. But in the past, I had a lot of close friends who were guys. Some were past boyfriends, some became boyfriends, and some were never more that just great friends.

Yes. There's nothing wrong with having a bf of the opposite sex. Most of my bf's are girls.

No, she's a she. We've been friends since I was five, I'm now 41. She's the only friend I've got and that's simply because she refuses to give up on me.
