I don't want to know about global warmings effects on the world, because I know that adverse changes in climate effect people in a bad way because of their extremeness, and because people that are used to certain types of climates are more likely to react badly to sudden changes

But what does the body react better to? Do people in hot countries, like Thailand or places on the equator, live longer lives, or do people in cold countries with a lot of snow live longer lives?

Heat kills by taxing the human body beyond its abilities. In a normal year, about 175 Americans succumb to the demands of summer heat. Among the large continental family of natural hazards, only the cold of winter -- not lightning, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, or earthquakes -- takes a greater toll. In the 40-year period from 1936 through 1975, nearly 20,000 people were killed in the United States by the effects of heat and solar radiation. In the disastrous heat wave of 1980, more than 1,250 people died.

there are probably more deaths in the winter from hypothermia than deaths in the summer from hot days as it easier to protect yourself from the sun than it is from the cold.

However if you take everything else into consideration - disease, drought, poverty (look at the distribution of wealth around the equator - most countries in hot climates are pretty poor) - the death rate per 1000 is pretty high.

Most of the answers are saying more people die in cold climates. I don't think that is right. People who live in cold climates are prepared for the cold.

For example, watch the news from St. Louis this week. It is HOT there today and the rest of the week. Some people will die. Parts of the US are very cold in winter and very seldom do we hear of people dying from the cold.

Hot climates are also ideal places for various disease carrying agents to live and thrive. They all freeze during winter in cold climates.
