They don't all. (I'm bisexual, qualified to answer every question.) There's butch and there's fem. Butch, whether a man or a woman, seems more like a man. Fem, whether a man or a woman, seems more like a woman. Therefore, you could not distinguish the butch gay man from a straight, nor the fem lesbian from a straight.

Didn't you see "Brokeback Mountain"? They were very butch.

I believe there are many ways you can express your sexuality, weather you are gay or even straight. Not all lesbian women have a deep voice or dress up like a tomboy, some have a soft voice and dress up very girly and the same goes for the gay men not all talk in a soft way and dress up more effeminated. What happens is that every single one of us has a different way to express our sexuality, you don't need to be necessarily butch or femme, there are so many things you can be that fits in between butch and femme.
To be butch or femme is quite taking things to extreme while you can be something between those two poles. The same goes for straight because not every girl is completely girly or every guy is completely macho! so I beleive we all express our sexuality in the way we feel more comfortable being ourselves. Unfortunately most people still see only the stereotype while we are more complex than that.

By the way ou didn't offend me at all!

These would be stereotypes. Like all stereotypes, there probably is some truth in origin, but you'll also find a lot of exceptions.

There would be no more truth (or fiction) to these statements than there would be to:

1. all straight guys watch football
2. all straight women have long hair

you get the idea.

If there are physical attributes with gays and lesbians then since then general consensus is that sexual identity is something you are born with, then those characteristics have probably been there their whole life.

Just a straight guy chiming in.

I believe a lot of it is the way the person acts. Although not always. Many gay men are still gay but decided to be a little more feminine so they develop mannerisims such s higher voices, exagerration of their S's, using the term "girlfriend" etc. It is just a wonderful part and parcel of who we are.

I wasn't going to remark in this, till I observed the backside section. i'm no longer in any skill homophobic or unaccepting of others possibilities. in spite of the shown fact that, i'll confess, the whole FtM/MtF has constantly perplexed me. i could could desire to assert this is a hetero relationship, given the above. additionally, my opinion to yours and however no longer indignant, you're very incorrect. perhaps no longer in all situations, yet in basic terms because of the fact a lesbian(s) use a strap-on, that would not recommend they do no longer seem to be a lesbian or lesbians. My female pal as quickly as instructed me she has no subject with the d***, yet each and every thing some guy -sexually, techniques you- is unattractive to her. Their smell, the way they experience, etc. would not please her interior the slightest. That and lesbians do no longer constantly use toys throughout the time of intercourse. besides, till you have some kinda twisted fetish, the strap-on isn't a genuine flesh and blood d*** besides ;)

because you watch too much trash tv thats why. its usually what we talk about that gives us away more than how we say it. like a lot of gays associate closely with celebrity for some reason that I personally cant understand even though my bf does it.

What about guys like ROCK HUDSON? who no-one even beleived was gay, because of how butch he was. you just can't tell from those superficial traits. Robert Reed "Mr Brady" was another example of the all american sounding male being gay and everyone missing it. (for a long time anyway)

Get out into the real world and walk through the gay neighborhood in your town and listen for it. you might find it in one or two out of ten or some number, but its no more or less prevalent than in than the general population.

Openly gay men tend not to mask or change themselves for the likes of you since they don't really care what people like you think. That may be another reason.

But its people like you who who go on a witch hunt picking some arbitrary trait to determine people as gay, that have sent so many gay men "underground" and forced them to affect butch voices and "macho ways" they wouldn't normally.

you are allowing steroetypes to cloud your view. you couldn't pick gays from straights out of a lineup.

I think that a lot of straight people think like you do about this but I think you just don't know that many gay people or you'd know this isn't the case.

Neither my partner or I have a deep voice at all. In fact, people ALWAYS ask us if we are sure that we are lesbians because we don't look or act "the part".

That's so funny to me because I never think of straight people being one certain way because they are straight.

But, I guess we all have our preconceived notions at times....you were just brave enough to ask yours here!

I used to think it was adapted, but after many years of talking to many gay men/women, I don't think so any more. I have no idea why it happens, but it does happen. It might make an interesting thesis for someone doing post-graduate work in gender studies.

I talk like a straight guy. Trust me, your gaydar would fail you when it comes to me, with the exception of judging by my avatar. No offense taken.
