Not likely... I'm sure the NBA would love it from a TV ratings perspective, but it makes no sense. Kobe being traded anywhere in the western conference should cost Mitch Kupchak a kneecap.

Laker fans would take up arms and secede from the union if that trade went through. No Superstar on the squad?? Jack Nicholson, Dyan Cannon, Penny Marshall and Ice Cube are gonna show up to see ol' man Michael Finley, Lamar Odom and Brent Barry? This team is supposed to stand a better chance against in the playoffs vs Phoenix, Dallas and a Kobe-fied San Antonio?

And why would the Spurs blow up their entire team to get a player they don't need? It's not like the Spurs are having trouble selling tickets to home games- since the seats are already full Kobe's drawing power is kinda wasted. And I don't think Kobe wants to live in a slower-paced city like San Antonio- he needs a big, urban market like New York, L.A. or Philly. And Kobe's not real popular with the conservative midwestern fan base of the Spurs.

Second, would Kobe want to sacrifice his game and concentrate on being a defensive stopper like Bowen was? I don't think so, Kobe wants the ball in his hands.

Which raises the huge elephant-sized question of chemistry. Why would the Spurs want to change the offensive scheme that's won them 4 championships? Sure with Kobe as your starter you keep bringing Ginobili off the bench, but who shoots less to accomodate him? Parker? Duncan? Tim wouldn't mind, but players need to take shots to stay in rhythm, and their current "team-first" system works- look at the rings!

If Kobe were younger then it might make sense to ease Tim Duncan into being the #2 offensive option, like the transition from David Robinson to Duncan. But Kobe doesn't have any more years left in his kness than the big fundamental.

Well maybe it would work- Bruce Bowen and Brent Barry are potential Hollywood stars, time for some BB-movies:

Hate the Spurs all you like.. what proportion rings does Kobe have? I do have confidence he entered the league the 12 months before Tim Duncan yet observe : 3 in a row is wonderful and all yet isn't it the great on the tip of a profession that counts? i think of Duncan has as many Finals MVP's as Kobe has rings. Make relaxing of all of them you like, i do no longer care. Kobe will in all likelihood win exactlty 0 extra rings meanwhile Duncan has a brilliant shot at prevailing a minimum of one extra, who is conscious, possibly extra.

Anything is possible, but you have to look at what is the goal of each team and in this case the Spurs have been doing just fine with out Kobe. It would not make sense for the Lakers because they would gain support but for who, they are trading away the guy they need the support for. It would not make sense for the Spurs to make that kind of trade as the saying goes; "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

You're joking right. First off, Pop and the management only take quality indiviuals, you never hear about any Spurs in trouble with the law or complaining about wanting to be traded one day, and not the next day. Second, the fans would boo him off the court. Third, he wouldn't fit in with the players and the way the Spurs play as a team.

This would never work! Do you think a jerk like Kobe would get along with anyone on the Spurs team? Nooo because that guy thinks he has to be the team. I have never liked to watch a sports team who has one player who scores all the points. Is this not a team effort?! He would never last on a team with more class than him!

Nope, San Antonio's players are all very great, all of the starters have won 3 finals championships and Tony Parker ain't goin anywhere but staying in Antonio, Kobe is like Terrell Owens a ball hog, and a loser, he complains, gets in way too many arguements, and is getting too old for the game, San Antonio would never make a deal with this lowlife.
