I'm in the suburbs and they're everywhere. Businesses stay a year or two and then close and the empty store sets. Now Walgreens is building in my town. We already have pharmacies at Kroger, Meijer, Walmart, Pharm, & Riteaid. Do we need 6? I don't get it. We also have a brand new bank. What for? We already have one on just about every corner. Just how much money do people have for a bank? lol

Detroit ah ha, now I know where you live lol! Strip malls?
Well if there was mall here where you could go and watch a strip show I would go, you can always count on me for a stupid answer huh. No, I know what you mean they are all over the place, I think it is too expensive for builders to construct monster malls, so they are doing this.

Yes, I live in Canada and they have so many strip malls, now but I like it as opposed to going inside the malls you just go to the store you like, saves time.

We have them all over Cranston - Providence is dominated by a real mall downtown call Providence Place http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Providence_Place which is actually really nice and has helped with the revitalization of Providence making it a growing city again. It is actually nice see Providence which was just another dying eastern city become a turn around story.

Good Luck!!!

It is absolutely out of control. How many frickin coffee shops, bagel shops, and bookstores do we need in a 40 mile radius? It's nothing but corporate greed, eating up green space. Bah! :(
