Also...do the home kits that you can spray on yourself work just as well?

In my 40 years in the auto body repair business I have never seen an undercoat job that was done anything close to right.I've cut apart hundreds of "undercoated" panels to find only enough material sprayed in to appear as though something was done if viewed with a flash light. It's a total waste of money especially considering that the new way of building car and truck bodies is top quality in rustproofing due to the extensive use of high strength coated steels.

Most of the road noise you hear is from debris hitting the plastic fender liners. You could spray some coating in that area from the outside and notice a small difference for a short while.

Ziebart and other rust proffers are the only way to go if you live in the rust belt. Anything north of Oklahoma. Let the professionals do this one spray cans? it would take 30 or 40 of them to properly coat the underside and inside the doors. Texas also uses Ice Melter but we can wash off the road splash the next day or two when sun comes out.
