in their old apartment and the sniffer dogs situation ] .. why would they go to so much trouble to set up a fund, and throw themselves in our faces each and every day?
Now you will all know I am not a supporter of the McCanns in any shape of form. I cannot stand the people but could they really be so stupid to put themselves out there in this manner if they had done something? That would make them not only criminal in some way but also somewhat sociopathic...
Interestingly enough one of the definitions provided of a socipath is as follows: "relatively normal temperament... their personality disorder being more an effect of negative sociological factors like parental neglect... and extremely low or extremely high intelligence"

"The Goat" Haha is all I have to say to your response.. My child would never be abducted. I am not so stupid as to leave them alone to go out and amuse myself..

If something had happened in the apartment then McCanns could have easily gone high profile to cover themselves. Who would blame the people who are looking so hard for their daughter? If they had just let the police deal with it and failed to create the media hype they would have been questioned about their involvement several times over. As it is they are pretty much untouchable due to the backing they have from the public. You can't even put them down on this site without being insulted let alone question their involvement in what happened. I'm sure they thought protection under a media spotlight would be better and they are right as far as I am concerned.

Not saying they did it, but from everything I've read about filicide (when parents kill their own children), many of them claim their children have been abducted and go through elaborate ruses to convince the public of it.
So even if suspicions about the McCanns are way off the mark, from a statistical and historical viewpoint, making the parents prime suspects in such a case, no matter how they behave, is logical.
Intelligence has nothing to do with it. Parents who murder their children (apparently, it's the leading cause of child death in the United States today) come from all socio-economic groups including well-off doctors. In fact, psychologists say male doctors are a particularly worrying group as the fate of their children is a matter of control for them, and some doctors have a "God complex".

You make a great point re McCanns psychology. But i feel that the gutter press are seeking imaginary angles for a story.
The sociopath syndrome is something i would attribute to (say) Kerry Katona's behaviour.
The McCanns get my deepest sympathies - i'm a scot.
But the point is interesting and a worthy concern.
I feel at this point, that the point of view was to be expected, as the case gets the public seeking for some definite answer - that is they want a body, alive or dead.
If i was the government, i would have shelled the country.
A grand point though.

Look at Ian Huntley, he played a role in the searches and made tea and coffee for police etc. For hollie and jessica which whome he murdered
Gerry and Kate are just making themselves a similar profile of searching.
I believe it was suspect to have 1 child gone missing and not all 3. This is something we will never know what happened until a vital clue is found and the murderer is found out.

They sucsessfully created such a frenzy of sympathy for THEMSELVES not Madeleine that no one dares to question them or their actions. Gerry isn't daft, he knew by releasing all the pics and songs and websites that people would be so clouded with sympathy they wouldn't suspect them.
Now I don't know what has happened, no one does but from DAY ONE there was something not right about all this and it seems to be coming out, slowly, at last.

May I use Ian Huntley as a prime example of a killer that actually seeks the attention after the fact? The McCann father gives me bad vibes and thats all the evidence I have but we'll see what develops

mmm...gerry mccann reminds me somewhat of Ian Huntley and Holly&Jessica situation...he put himself outthere when he was guilty,as youll remember he appeared on GMTV all innocent.
There is definitley alarm bells ringing for me in this case and I personally think the Mccans look very sneaky and remind me of huntley(thats why I mentioned him)
Didnt know about the room inspection/blood etc will have to read that up!!!
great ques.have a star on me.

They probably thought it would move the suspicion away from them. A lot of people seem to have forgotten that they left the children alone, and the fact that they are doctors also mean people trust them automatically.
