congratulations sweetie. I still couldn't understand how one gets it. I got 125 best answers, more than 40 of them under Turkey. But I got violations too lol.

You get to be "top contributor" by answering a bunch of questions in just one category and, according to what folks say, at least 10% of those answers have to be chosen as "best answer."
I've been answering almost all my questions in one category (this one, Yahoo Answers) because I wanted to get an idea of just how many questions a person has to answer in one category. Is it 50? 100? 200? Nobody seems to know.
I now have about 85 answers in this "Yahoo Answers" category and about 30% have been "best answer" and, today, Monday August 6th, I just saw that I have the badge!!! I just made it!!!!!!
Now I'm left to wonder what the magic number was but this does give me some idea. I don't have 100 answers yet but I made it. Possibly it helped that I have a good "best answer rating."
Whether the asker or voters chose your answer as "best answer," it helps you closer to being a "top contributor." Askers always have the first right to choose the "best answer" but if they don't choose before the time for voting expires then it goes into voting.
Which is silly, sort of, since the asker gets 3 points for choosing "best answer" and they forfeit that if it goes into voting.
Of course, once you get chosen "top contributor," you have to keep answering in that category but, again, nobody knows how many you have to do per week to keep it. If I find out, I'll let you know.

Well I guess you know a lot about Turkey. Once you get a certain number of best answers under a cataglory they give you the badge of top contributor.

If you answer regularly in a certain category, and suppositly give quality answers, a Orange Badge thingy is rewarded, sometimes if you slow down your answers it is taken.
This happened to me.
Nowhere have I seen that it actually has to do with percentages.
Congrats on the accomplishment.

I've asked the same question once and someone told me that when you reached and answered so much question regarding a certain area, you become a 'Top Contributor'. Well done!! You're an expert now.

Probably Yahoo noticed your efforts as the matchmaker of people who don't know each others languages and wanted to award you :p .
Actually you deserved a badge with pink hearts on it but I guess they couldn't make it :D
Welcome to the club, hon :)

The same person that stole mine I guess. LOL.
What the heck? Mine was gone and now it's back just like yours. What's going on with Yahoo?

Well from what I see you still have the badge. But you have 15% best answer, so this is why you have been given the badgy thingy.
