OK, now that I have your attention, I would ask why America is the economic powerhouse it is, and why it became such a wealthy country? As late as 400 years ago it was pretty much a wilderness, as compared to the established civilizations of Europe and other areas.
Certainly the millions of people trying to come here, legally or otherwise, must consider it a "land of opportunity" as well.
So why is this?

Didn't other places, like Africa, South America and Asia have natural resources and manpower too?
It's sad that some people think so poorly of the country. Oh well.

Both of the first two are only partly correct there is much more.
It was founded on the belief that one can guild his own success and destiny in life. Not with the over shadowy over lords who took from the people for many centuries. And when the first pilgrims came here they also attempted the socialist that the left today want to bring in. But it failed and after one year each person was given his own land to work as when some worked harder than others and they did not get the benefit they stopped, the same as the USSR failing .
And yes many people came as indentured servant to work until they paid off their cost to seek freedom and the cost is not free that seems to be forgotten by many on the left today. It is very high and some time the highest price life itself.
And yes many did come as slaves just as many parts of the world today and the location they came from it is still going on there now as one tribe would take from another and sell them to who ever would buy. So all of you guilt ridden left I did not take slaves as their own brothers did so I am not to blame for this like you imply to all conservatives.
Now with this and a willingness to risk every thing from our founding fathers of life and limb and every thing they had built up in wealth they won the war and yes with help. This set the stage for expansion and with many great mind and many sad evil deeds many natives paid also with the high cost of life. But in the end it produced the greatest place and chance for a human to be any thing they wanted to be and still is even with the Communist Democrats who wish to make every one dependent which is failure and they know it. With this mind set to risk and take this risk we were able to advance farther than any one race , nation or people in the entire history of man. many in the ancient Greeks where the founding of Democracy which we are a Republic ( representative) Which means we pick people to do just as it say. And this gives us the chance to do so much. Islam is still in the middle ages and like the Greeks who had short times of advancements were brought down with in fighting as we see today all to gain power. And if we are to continue the path we most stop the fighting for power the left is always on and win our wars and yes pay the price as you see people from all over the globe still wish to come here and be free like they never have been able to

America was built on vast resources and cheap slave labor. However it is no longer the envy of the world. Bush has buried the US dollar and there's no end in sight. US corporations following US MBA philosophy have sold out the american people and sent their wealth overseas.

I thought China owned the USA economically ...
and rather than consider the USA economy GREAT .. consider the alternative .. the poorness of other nations?
In a great nation there would be a universal health care system that sustained ALL CITIZENS . .without those against it beying SOCIALISM ..

Capatalism mostly, unions partially. Most of this was ancient history though. Current capitalism and Unions are bad.
