Of course, but it's very difficult to express humour to complete strangers, through a text-only medium. Humour is expressed through voice and body-language. There is no way to tell if someone is being funny, serious, or just stupid without the associated cues.
That said, this is supposed to be a serious website to help people, so it's no wonder people get upset when they ask a serious question and get jokers writing 'funny things' (which are rarely actually funny) back.
And there are always those few people who have no sense of humour whatsoever lurking around to take offense whenever possible.

No, we're all humourless b******** - there is no room for humour in computers.
Or not.
Your call really.
But what you have to remember is that if you make a funny joke in an answer and someone doesn't understand it or finds it offensive you will get reported to Yahoo and get an official wrist slap. I got one for humourously suggesting that someone had asked a question that was a waste of points... got reported for language though I never even swore once.
Anyway, you're asking this in the wrong section... Social Science or Games and Recreation would be better?

I used to but then people started reporting my humour as abuse and after a while I picked up a certain number of violations. After that reaches a certain level (10?) Yahoo terminates you.

Yes, although having a sense of humour on here also leads to violations, I've learnt first hand !! :)

A termite walked into a saloon and asked "Is the bar tender here?"
Little girl: Why does your son say "cluck, cluck, cluck"?
Woman: Why darling, he thinks he's a chicken.
Little girl: Why don't you just tell him he's not a chicken?
Woman: Because, sweetie, we need the eggs!
