my son weighed 8.5kg at 8mths and my daughter was about 9kg so it is really normal. That is right in the middle of average, so perfect really! If he is taller than average he might look 'lean' but I'm sure he's fine. Take him to a child health nurse or chemist nurse for a check up and they will tell you if he is too skinny/fat. He should be eating 2 solid meals a day now so that will help fatten him up!!

Good luck

Without hearing anything else, your son seems fine. You can find growth charts from a variety of different sources if you'd like to chart his growth. If you go to the boy's growth chart I've given below, you'll see an 8mth old boy weighing 8.5kg is somewhere around 35-40% for weight. Which means he's right in the healthy range (note that being on the higher end doesnt mean he's healthier).

He sounds healthy to me. I wouldn't worry so much.

Lean and tall is just as healthy (if not more) than short and a little chubby. Enjoy your baby

No absolutely fine. Normally baby weighs around 10kgs on their first birthday. As long as baby is looks healthy and active, no need to worry.

My 1-yr-old daughter weighs 8.2 kg and her doctor thinks she's just fine. So your baby's weight should be OK.
In my experience, lean babies crawl and walk faster than chubby babies.

Yes.

He is OK.

But if in doubt, take him to a child doctor for check up and vaccination.
