Look back in your family history, are there some ancestors with unusual names? Maybe you could put together some old names to come up with something interesting, then they'd have meaning as well as originality.

Or think about the things you and your husband like to do. I know a pilot who named his daughter Piper, after the type of plane he flew. Do you like fishing? There are some interesting names for fish that don't come across as weird (like Trout would). Any type of activity you enjoy is going to have some cool words in it that will make great names for kids.

You could also pull out a map and check out destinations. There are lots of neat places in the world with some really great names: Surrey, Brooklyn, Berkley, Acadia, Roma.

Or what about books that have meant a lot to you? Romeo, Ayn, Galt, Morganna, all are cool names from literature.

Your baby's name is going to shape his or her character. It's going to create an impression in people's minds before anything else. You want it to make a statement that your child can live with. Let's face it, you're not going to cast your vote for president for Bubbles Cha-Cha, nor is the most popular kid in school going to be named Gerald Poindexter.

And for the record... David & Victoria Beckham's children are Brooklyn (their first son), Romeo James and Cruz David.

Go to www.americanbaby.com
they have a baby namer thing on there with tons of names to look through, from unusual to common. You should be able to find the link at the bottom of the main page on the website, if not then they have a search box so you can search the site for it.

I decided to go to the americanbaby site and look at some of the names myself and some of the ones that I liked are.....

Girl...Adamaris, Aditya, Adrianna, Akira, Bailey, Braelyn, Brielle, Dakota, Damaris, Talia,Tiera, Zahara,Zaria, Raina, Rayne,

Boy....Dalton, Dayton, Adriel, Aiden, Titus, Tobias, Trace, Trenton, Valentin, Zane, Harley, Hudson, Riley, River,

Just to name a few. You can check it out yourself, They have thousands of baby names on there, you can pick what letter you want it to start with, what origin the name came from, or for a boy, girl or neutral names.

There is nothing wrong in wanting name your baby an "unusual" name. My fiance and I have gone over the same conversation when we have kids someday. Although my advice is that not to name your child something unusual just because celebrities are doing it. Celebrities are not the best role models. It is such a trendy thing to name children crazy things like, "Inspektor Pilot" but it is important to think about the children's future when he/she starts school. I think it is nice to name your child after an important person in your life or a favorite location (if it isn't too crazy). Just make sure it is meaningful.

No offense.. i do no longer look after Oliver, Jack and James i like yet they are user-friendly.. i like Cassie, Carrie Kerry and Cara in my opinion, i like user-friendly, hassle-free names 3 years in the previous I had (or maybe concept) approximately having a toddler, I knew If I ever had a woman toddler what i replaced into going to call her.. once I have been given pregnant, I seen different names yet got here back to the comparable woman call.. it incredibly is a undeniable and easy call, yet I constantly cherished it.. I named her Ashley Marie.. If Ashley would have been a boy, i replaced into going to call him Michael James. My 2nd daughter, I constantly cherished this call too.. I named her Shannon Lee. they are the two grown now, and that i've got observed there are a number of, MANY Ashley's yet Shannon would not look as user-friendly.. My factor i think is that it will come to you whilst the time comes. in case you rather are not loopy approximately any of the names you listed, scrap them and are available up with some others. you have lots of time besides :)

If you are really stuck, invest in a book of baby names, you can pick one up usually wherever books are sold. Please remember, just because you like unusual names, doesn't mean your child will. He/she will have to go through school dealing with the potential teasing that typically come from children faced with something very different than what they are used to. Don't make growing up too hard on your child, growing up is hard enough without a "different" name added into the mix.

Best of luck.

Your just like me. I want my kids to have different names. And i also love the names the beckhams have choosen for their kids, especially Brooklyn even though it sounds like a girls name ''Brook'' ''Lyn'' sorry i'm going on a bit aren't I? K if i was gonna have a boy i would wanna call him Gabriel after the angel. Now it's not that different but really like it. If i was gonna have a girl i would want her to have a Indian name even though i am not. something like Priya or Zara. That would be different. Also like the names Rain and Destiny. Good luck.

Ooh, I've always liked Bartholomew. That's not real real different, but I like it, plus it's biblical. The only downside is some people might want to call him Bart. I'm on the fence on that one. Also for a boy, I like Aren, pronounced like the letters R-N. For a girl I like Alexandria or Aria. That's odd, I've never noticed they were all so similar... : /
