i work in a choclate factory but have never seen any. Tho there is that restricted area in the lower basement...............

I have never seen an Oompa-Loompa (note the spelling!) in my life but I'm pretty sure I know why. After Violet, Verrucca, Mike and Augustus unsuccessfully tried to sue Wonka, they got revenge by tipping off Immigration who busted the the factory and kicked the lot of them back to Loompaland.

Wonka tried using singing robots for a while until the unions started leaning on him. He now employs the cheery elves from "Santa Claus the Movie" :)

The Umpalumpas really do exist, but perhaps they prefer to be called Pygmy Indians. It's not very advisable to cross one as I understand they are allowed to carry blow pipes.
No they don't sing, whistle while they work or do choreographed dance routines with Johnny Depp, Gene Kelly or anyone else.

Yeah of course they did but since the EU stated that it is illegal to sing in a place of work they have been forced underground, making choclate for the black market

in Charlie & the chocolate factory they were first portrayed as black pygmies from africa, and were basically slaves to Willy Wonka, due to obvious reasons, that was changed
