Yes I have.
I only came on here because I wanted to understand my friends world a little better and didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable by asking him direct questions about his sexuality (it's much easier talking to a bunch of strangers).
What surprised me is how helpful and supportive people are, and how I now regard some of the contacts I have made on here very much as friends albeit I have never met them in person.
Hopefully one day I may meet a few of them.
Jyse - get a passport and come to England. You can stop at my house for free. I've got a spare room. Bring the cats too - they can have a party with mine (so long as they clean the place up afterwards) :-)

Yes I would say my contacts have surprised me on here in many good ways. I've met some great people who all over the world, so I gotten some good insight into what life is like there. Which is kind of cool for me, because I would love to travel more. I've also gotten to see the point of view from many people who have different backgrounds and made good friends with all different types of people. Not to sound so after school special, but it's been pretty educational for me.

Yeah I have. There has been a few people recently who have showed a real intelligence and humour - something I really appreciate. I don't view it as a dating site or anything like that - just it is nice when you can interact with someone and it makes you smile or shows a little intellect! So, yes I have been surprised, but in a good way!

Yeah! I've met some awesome people here. I've learned new things and that's always wonderful. I've even gotten to be friends with one of our "trolls", and discovered that he's a really cool guy. I LIKE him and value his friendship.
But the best thing is that I met my baby girl here..... even though this isn't a dating site. We started chatting and exchanging emails and it just happened. I'm crazy about my lion tamer.......WooHoo

I have, am actually with Ashley on this one. Most of my contacts are in different countries, and it will be difficult to ever meet anyone. And yes, you have surprised me pleasantly many times :-) especially when you poke ;-P

YES! I have the most amazing people who have contacted me and we find ourselves emailing back and forth almost daily.The great people way out number the slugs.

I get disappointed by the great people I've met here on Yahoo! Answers because they all live in America, while I'm here in Australia and never likely to meet them in person.
