First most of the parents that would oppose this would have no medical or moral grounds to do so.Religious reasons maybe but with a proper understanding of transexuality there should be no religious issues as transexuality is not homosexuality.I would think good counseling and a proceed with caution and making sure the child has full knowledge of what the procedures do and the life lasting effects wouldn't be unreasonable.Using puberty delaying drugs shouldn't be an issue either and allows the child the longest possible time living in gender without suffering the negative affects of puberty. Then if the child still feels this is who they are why not give them the right to feel comfatable in their own body. Many people make a big deal about a child choosing to have a sex change but hardly anybody makes a stink about doctors performing sex changes on gender ambigiuos infants who don't even have a say in it.Transexuality is a treatable condition and the treatment is counseling to deal with the issues of transitition and society hormones and surgery and these are the medically accepted treatments.

My opinion on such a touchy subject is probably way different than someone elses. It comes down to an "to each his own" if you do not have children you cant really answer this question truthfully, for when you had them(if you choose too) and were faced with that situation your mindset may change. A parents love is a strong bond to break and most parents would do what they could to ensure their childs happiness, no matter what.

If my child was born and felt they were the opposite gender. I would absolutely support them. I would let my child dress as whomever they felt they were. I would fully support my child in their decision for a sex change and hormone shots. Why would I want to stop my child from being who they feel they are? I would rather support my child and let them know I still love him/her regardless of their gender, then shun them for wanting to be who they feel they really are. I'm sure it would be rough at first, as all change is. But I think as a true parent you would want what was best for your child always and if this is what your child feels is best for them, why would I stop him/her? :)

Yes, I would.
Transsexualism is a congenital neurological condition; it's very, very distressing for a child born with it to be forced to try to be someone she (or he) is not.
If my child were born transsexual, I would do everything in my power to help him or her come to terms with it, and everything necessary to treat the condition. It's the only right thing to do for that child.

I saw that special on those transgendered children too. IT was a Diane Sawyer special. There is something so totally wrong about that whole situation.
They had a family rasing their 5 year old son as a girl.
The world has gone bonkers.

If he/she is old enough to make decisions like that, then if they would feel more comfortable as the opposite sex, I would allow it.
